★★★★★A totally relaxing stay. We have stayed in the Villa many times over the years and we know we can ALWAYS count on the hospitality of the innkeeper, Jean. If the founders, Paul and Merrill Bonarrigo, are in town, they will usually join the guests for a wonderful breakfast with Jean's mimosas. Each room is decorated in a unique theme with antique furniture and light fixtures. The stay includes wine and cheese in the property wine bar. If you stay when the Vintage House restaurant is open, this added to our overall experience with great food and wine and an easy walk back to the Villa.

NillWe were absolutely blown away by how gorgeous and relaxing a place to stay this was!! We stayed in the Marie Antoinette room (highly highly recommend - it has a large bathtub and a beautiful balcony view of the trees and of some of the fountain, and it is on the top story). We absolutely loved our room, the amazing wine tour, the wine tasting, and the delicious coffee and breakfast each morning (all are included in the stay!). Thank you Messina Hof for helping us to recharge our batteries!!!

NillMy husband and I stayed here our wedding night and were showered with lovely service. Our room key was easy to pick up, the whole villa was very peaceful and quiet. The breakfast was outstanding and included mimosas and sunrises (cranberry and champagne). Jean, the keeper, was very helpful and even offered us a later check out since no one was checking in after us. The free tour and cheese and wine tasting is a really nice touch too! Will definitely go back for our anniversary O:)

NillThe winery tour (tasting class, tour of the vineyards, processing, and storage, and a walk of the grounds) was amazing! We stayed for the B&B too. The restaurant was delicious, the room was cozy and beautiful, and the other patrons were fun to engage with as we passed them on our nightly walk. I loved the Ivory Ports of Call, but no longer made. Before they stopped producing it though, the staff created a label and put it on a bottle of that deliciousness that read, "Sarah, will you marry me?" I proposed a few months later with that bottle. And yes, we are married now!

★★★★★This is a very interesting bed and breakfast located at the Messinahof Winery. We spent two nights here. Each room (there are 11) is named and has a theme. We were in the Napoleon and Josephine room, which is a large corner room on the ground floor with lots of windows and a huge bathroom with a separate shower and a large jetted tub. There is a coffee pot and refrigerator in each room and we were given two bottles of water and two juice as well as two pieces of delicious dark chocolate. We were warmly greeted by Jean, the lady who manages the inn. The rooms on the second floor have a balcony to sit on. There is no elevator. Breakfast was fruit, cheese, yogurt, granola, muffins and a hot dish. We had French toast one morning that was yummy and an egg dish the next day. There was coffee, tea and juice also. Included were a tour of the winery with sampling and a wine and cheese tasting. We had a very nice time.

NillNote that I am reviewing only The Villa (the Bed and Breakfast accommodations) and not the Winery as a whole. The Villa is 2/5 stars, while I would rate the Winery 5/5 stars. My wife and I did enjoy our stay, but there were some elements that put a damper on things, mostly related to a lack of cleanliness. The bed in our room (which, as I recall, was the Lancelot and Guinevere) was uncomfortable and LOUD. Shifting in bed at night caused us both to wake up. The room, especially the bathroom was quite spacious. The quarters overall were rather musty, which we did not like. On our last day there, while packing up, we discovered a mess of things underneath the bed, including old candy and wrappers which were definitely not ours. This put a damper on things for us because it made us wonder how much of the room we stayed in was actually clean. The breakfast was light but good, and, though the items in the lobby were uncovered (which was surprising given that we stayed in March 2020 as the pandemic was beginning), the staff did cook us a hot meal. The owners also came out to the lobby and chit chatted with us, which was nice. As I mentioned before, we enjoyed our stay overall, but the accommodations were unclean and uncomfortable, so I do not think I could bring myself to stay here again.
