The camp is very disorganized. The staff members were very kind however many of them were campers that were filling in and had to relay messages to the owner before we could get answers. We had brought an old dog who was going for her last camping trip. We made a mistake that the lodge that we rented was no pet friendly. The owner proceed to tell us we had to take the pets and go home. The kids were crying. We live 2 hours away. She went and check our previous registration and saw we had originally rented a pet friendly cabin and then changed it to the lodge so she sent an employee to tell us we could stay. I had a $500 refund due me and still a month and a half later still have now received as she told us we can never come back. We left the lodge cleaner than when we came. She is very rude, uncaring, and should not be running a business where she is interacting the public. The employees/ campers were very kind however. We also rented 3 golf carts. The one was always breaking down so I had the employee show me how to fix it so we wouldn't have to call on them all the time. Never got any thanks for that. Just were told to never come back because of the dog who never made any mess and slept the whole time. We also had a turtle and bearded dragon who were in cages the whole time and bothered nothing. We also had no electricity the first day and night in one of the room. No apologies for that either. I would find somewhere else to camp if I were you. There are many who have great owners who treat you with respect. They are in fact taking your money and should at least give you THAT.

Well, what can I say? This place is a gem family owned. Happy campers. Great staff. They had events while we were there. I will come to this place at least once a year if not more ,the pool was great. The park is perfect.

This is a beautiful campground that unfortunately is not a pleasant stay if you have to deal with the owner in any capacity. There was a miscommunication on the owner’s part about pets being allowed in the cabin we rented. She was extremely rude, alarmingly irate, and unprofessional in front of her younger employees and my children. She said she would be charging us additional money for the pets she initially said could stay. We didn’t dispute the extra charge even though this was not our error but we were understanding that things happen. When the owner went back and discovered she in fact caused the miscommunication, she sent a young employee to explain that she made a mistake and to excuse her behavior as she dealt with the recent passing of her dog. While this is unfortunate, it is no excuse to treat people (your customers) this way. It’s also a terrible example to set for the younger employees working here. We are still waiting on a refund for the deposit we put down for a future stay after multiple calls and promises it would be sent. If you want to stay at a friendly campground with good and trustworthy management and customer service, this is not the place to go. I hope they see this as an opportunity to make some positive changes.

What a wonderful place! The family that owns and operates it and all the staff are so warm, inviting and fun. They obviously work very hard to create a beautiful, clean, safe and fun environment for their guests. Hickory Hills is family and pup friendly so everyone can find something for them while making memories together. There are endless activities for all ages and a beautiful lake. It’s especially peaceful in the mornings. There are also adorable cabins and cottages available if you don’t have a camper. We traveled there from Texas and are already looking forward to our next of many return trips!

This was our first big camping trip with our pop-up camper. We had site #2 which was nice and close to the camp store, pool and all of the other fun activities. We arrived in a Saturday and it was VERY full. There was also a band that played that night until about 10 pm. The campground cleared out considerably on Sunday and Monday and was much quieter. You’ll want to note that the camp store closes much earlier on Sundays. ||The Space Ball activity was blocked off so we did not get to try that and the mini putt course does look like it has seen better days, but the kids loved the jumping pad and the playing water balloon wars. The pool was cold, but refreshing on the 90 degree days. It felt very clean though and I saw staff check levels/chlorine several times. The beach was beautiful. The kids loved the obstacle courses in the water. The first time we went down to it, it was covered in goose poop, but the next couple of times it was gone, so we’re assuming someone cleaned it off, which we greatly appreciated. We were also pleased that the beach had shady spots and also lounge chairs and picnic tables. We were also pleasantly surprised to discover that the campground makes homemade pizzas and will even deliver them to your campsite or the beach! It was really good! The showers are coin operated but warm, clean, and private. We thought about renting a golf cart, but it would have cost $50/day, which we felt was high. ||All in all, we enjoyed our time there. The kids also expressed wanting to go back again. Thanks Hickory Hills for the memories!

This place was wonderful! The lake is beautiful and big, very enjoyable! The only problem I had there was that the communication wasn't thorough from the staff. They gave minimal information when we came in to do stuff like rent boats. The staff is mainly children or young teens, so it was difficult for them to keep track of paperwork and purchases. But they were all very kind and working very hard! We stayed in the Lodge, it was clean and beautiful and we truly enjoyed our time there. We'll be back next year! *Also the manager or owner, not sure who it was but an older woman there in the office tends to give attitude and was rude to several members of my family*

They are very kid friendly. The pool is great as are the inflatables. Ice cream in the store is reasonably priced and very good. The DJ and 80's party was a great event and well attended. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Unlike many of the parks with kid activities, you do not pay extra for the kid friendly amenities. However, I didn't like the lake with goose feces floating in it. One of the dirtiest lakes I've been in. The mini golf course is covered with dirt and probably yard clippings. It needs new carpet. It really isn't usable. Some of the sites appear to be pull in and park however you want without consistency. They definitely cater to the seasonal campers. At the dump station you can't hook up to flush your tanks because the water comes out from just a piece of cut off hose. Saturday night in the men's room, only 1 shower worked. One had an out of order sign and the others just took your money We are pretty frequent campers and have been for several years. I haven't run into coin showers in nearly 30 years. My grandkids enjoyed the 3 nights here. That was the point of our stay.

The stars I give for the place has nothing to do with the service or staff and the seasonal people here are very friendly nice and helpful. The reason I give the place this low of a rating is the condition of the amenities and lack of attention to them. If your looking for a good place to just stay at your campsite and walk in nature then this is an ok place but to me for the price and advertising of everything this place was definitely not worth the price.
