NillWe showed up here looking for an RV site while we had repairs made. $40 seems high since we've used to campgrounds owned by the government but I really appreciated the modern laundromat and hot showers. The proximity to town was a big plus too. There are shade trees and beautiful cactus specimens. It was quiet.

★★★★★This charming RV park is located right at the Y on the north side of town, where Highway 277/377 meets Highway 90. We saw it while driving by and pulled in -- happy to find the park much more spacious than it looks from the road. Long-timers are parked around the edges with daily spots in the middle (all pull-thrus with full hook-ups). Though we were the only short-term guests at the time, it seemed the mature vegetation would give privacy if it were more crowded. Found the residents and staff to be wonderfully welcoming and friendly. Amenities include a small swimming pool, laundry, and an activity room with a pool table, entertainment center (movies and music provided) and two large shelves of books up for grabs. They also have a doggie bath, campfire pit, and free morning coffee in the rec room/community kitchen. They had 72 channels of cable TV, as well as three Wi-Fi networks, so we never had a problem connecting. The resident kitty even came to visit ours, making sure everyone was settling in fine. Rates quoted were:||Daily -- $22||Weekly -- $135||Monthly -- $235 plus electricity costs||The only thing I could say on the contrary is that the spots seemed a bit close together and they were not perfectly level. I only mention this because it bothers some people. To us, we thought the whole experience was a great deal for a pleasant stay. Thanks, Lonesome Dove!

NillGood place to stay. We’re pretty much self contained so as long as we’ve got the hook ups that’s pretty much all we need. This place has onsite laundry and game room with pool table. Maintenance guys always seem to be busy fixing and maintaining sites. There’s grass and trees which I understand isn’t the norm in the area. They even host Friday night potlucks although we didn’t attend. Mail was easy to receive and someone was always around if I had questions.

NillI spent 4 months here in the summer. I loved it. I rented a spot with a covered roof and porch. I am a woman alone with my dogs and called ahead to ask about safety and privacy. Ray answered all my crazy questions and was very helpful. I felt safe the entire time and everyone was friendly. There are many parks in this area and I checked them all out during my time in Del Rio this one was one of two that weren't just plain scuzzy. I definitely picked well. The staff were helpful when I needed them, the facilities were clean and well kept and I heard in the winter there are more neighborly involved activities. I must also mention that there are actual trees, in deep Texas in the summer they make a difference. I lucked out that the air base's rv park was full because there were sad little trees there, a laundry facility I never figured out where it was, and a not so accessible staff. Thank you Lonesome Dove RV Ranch!

★★★★Great WIFI connection once I fixed my settings on my new laptop. Impressive lounge building with pool table, tv, and plenty of movie choices. The recreation building with large kitchen and schedule of events (card games, etc..) was also a pleasant welcome after being on the road and not having a chance to socialize much. Staff member, Ray, was very nice and even answered questions after his office shift. Not a polished upscale resort, but definitely the down home kind that makes you feel welcomed.

NillConvenient to Del Rio, Amistad National Recreation site. The bathhouses could use updating. The sites are close to each other but have privacy fencing between which helps. Lots of dirt for sites, a couple loads of gravel would go a long way. We had a rain storm come through and had lots of mud. Many puddles still not dry around the bathhouse. We used the laundry and it was fine.

★★★★We were visiting family so were looking for park closest to town. Others were further out, and pricier. Rates here were reasonable. Only thing is it's mostly filled with permanent residents, a little dated and could use a renovation. (Its up for sale). But we had what was needed. Bathrooms and showers were decently clean. We didn't use laundry room but would have as it was also clean and tidy. Would stay again.

★★I agree with Traveler1000two. I found the managment here very picky and I felt that I was singled out as a short timer or van dweller. I wasn't sure which until I read the other review here. Anyway, here's my complete review. ||||One of the worst places I've stayed and here s why... ||||First, the good: the Lonesome Dove is a quiet place, with many of the sites having trees for shade, something you really want in hot southern TX. There are some permanent residents here who are really nice and the owners, when they are here for the winter, have a potluck every week in which they provide the meat. This is the reason I am giving it the three stars it got. It has a decent rec room, with a pool table and TV, a laundry room, baths and showers. Unfortunately, I encountered some serious problems here as well. ||||Now the bad: There is a two nice porches, one at the front leading to the manager s office, the other on the side leading to the bath/laundry room. These are nice shady places to hang out...IF YOU SMOKE. Unfortunately, if you are like me and a lot of other people, you won t be able to enjoy the porches and may experience some discomfort trying to get into the bathrooms or office. Secondly, the bathrooms and showers are off the luandry room, which is incredibly hot and often full of fragrance from laundry users, so you roast in the bathroom. The worst part, however, was the management. The husband of the managing couple continuously harrassed me to clean up after myself, in spite of the fact that I am very clean and responsible and never once left a mess. He also spoke rudely to me on several occasions, treating me like a child. His treatment of me made me very uncomfortable and greatly diminshed my ability to enjoy the facilities. I would not go back there as long as he is still in charge.
