Parrots Nest Cottage #4 Toucan Pro: Our cottage (which is actually a duplex) was very cute, clean, and a good size. Just a short distance from the main street. Walking distance to a restaurant. A short walk to the beach. The bed was very comfortable. The A/C was great. Keurig machine. They provide beach chairs and beach umbrella. Finally a place that has decent toilet paper and not the cheap 1-ply stuff. Con: They told us how to unlock the lock box but didn’t tell us how to lock the door when we left. We finally figured it out. I am a short person and I could see from my eyes up in the only mirror. I could see my neck if on my tip toes. It would be nice if they added another towel bar or two in the bathroom. Ice trays would be nice. We had to buy a bag of ice. There was a hole in the wall next to the sliding glass door that went through to the outside. We stuffed it with TP so bugs couldn’t get inside. On our second day, we were informed that they were having blinds installed in our room. They said they would arrive at 9 am. We are not morning people so we left to eat breakfast and planned to take our shower after they were done but they hadn’t arrived yet when we returned. A little before 11 am I decided to take my shower and, of course, that’s when they showed up. We weren’t too happy that the blind installers were given the code to get into our room.

This unit would be good for no more than 3 days. There is NO counter space. The coffee maker has to sit on top of the refrigerator. It isn't possible to make a sandwich. There is a small table that has to be used. Only about 10 total pieces of cutlery, one sharp knife, and a corkscrew, not even a can opener. One pot and 2 skillets are the extent of the cooking utensils. An open electrical outlet is right beside the front door. No cover! Only one mirror in the place. I am 5'4" and could only see my head if I had my shoes on. The vanity is actually a kitchen cabinet, so very tall. No new linens the entire month. I understand no maid service. But, there was no washer/dryer. It didn't seem fair not to get fresh linens once a week. The other option was to pay to wash them. The TV was very small. The only seating were the vinyl seats or a chair that made a twin bed. It was extremely uncomfortable. We reserved for a month and were very disappointed. You can hear EVERYTHING from the unit next door through the bathroom vent. We travel 6 months out of the year. This was near the bottom of the list of places we have stayed.

Very cozy & nicely refurbished following Hurricane Ian. Close to beach. Close to great small shopping mall. Tuttles Shell shop owner 'Bob' has stories about damage to his store and about how his home nearby was completely washed away.

Lovebirds is a cute one bed cottage. It was very clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. The cool air unit in the bedroom worked reasonably well, but the main aircon was very good. The bathroom is tiny with nowhere for shower gel etc. and the shower isn’t great if you’re not tall, and is not adjustable. |The cottage is really lovely apart from the very poorly equipped kitchen. A massive cooker, with no baking trays or dishes and an equally massive sink with no drainer or washing up bowl, dominate the kitchen, leaving no work space. There are very few kitchen necessities - can opener, fish slice etc, and no containers of any sort. We didn’t see an iron either. There’s no hairdryer. |Parrot nest cottages are in a great location and are pretty, quiet and have nice outside spaces. There are beach chairs and umbrellas. | We found lovebirds good for a few days, but the lack of certain things would annoy for a longer stay.

Stayed one night in #3 Macaw cottage. Quiet. Park right in front near your door. Love that they have complementary bikes to use for their patrons. Tiny kitchenette very useful. Within walking of old lighthouse Beach and the Bay. Newly remodeled room and bathroom and very clean and tasteful. Thick memory foam mattress very comfortable. Pillows need replacing. That said, the pillows are my only complaint. Other than late check in (4p.m.) and early check out (10 a.m.) times - but that is the norm down here and can't single them out for that. As a more budget friendly option, i highly recommend.

The place overall was fine but the fridge was not cold enough to keep food safe. All of our food spoiled, and when we reached out to management, they never got back to us. This issue cost us a couple hundred dollars on top of our trip budget

2nd year we were unable to use out condo due to Ian repairs so stayed at Parrots Nest. Clean, quiet and great location. Lighthouse side of the island so getting off the island was much, much less traffic. We used the bikes often and enjoyed our private patio. Full size fridge, smaller stove/oven, comfortable beds. Beach chairs and umbrella provided along with beach wagons if needed. Counter space was very limited in our unit so it made doing dishes or preparing anything difficult. Overall stay was amazing and I highly recommend the Parrots Nest.

We were fortunate to see a posting that Parrots Nest had reopened and spent two nights in Lovebirds #5. The remodeled studio (which is now a one bedroom) was clean and bright, and the bed was comfortable. We brought our own bikes but there were bikes available for guests to use. Tips: Make sure you pull the curtains and leave the A/C on low when you go out during the day because the room does get warm (especially the bedroom) in this extreme heat. Temperature at night was fine. We walked to Lighthouse Beach and found more shells on that end of the island than we ever have in the past. A couple of the shops nearby had sidewalk tables so we did some shopping and had some great meals at Doc Fords and excellent pizza at Great White Grill. It was sad to see so much damage but uplifting to see how the business owners and residents that we met are keeping their spirits up and appreciate visitors. Can't wait to return to our favorite home away from home!
