We hosted a small event at Whispering Oaks and it was a lovely experience from start to finish! Gayle was wonderful to work with and she made everything easy. We had the outdoor area for the event and it was perfect - the guests loved it and all commented on how beautiful the grounds were. The kids enjoyed running around on the grass :) We used Palmer's for catering and it was delicious! We will definitely consider Whispering Oaks again for a future event and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it!

Great property in the middle of Norwalk! Very quiet, lots of parking, lovely well kept grounds. Gayle from LaKota took me around the property. Very modern and set up for large meetings and exhibitions with multiple large conference and meeting rooms. Full catering services available.

Wanted to like this place but the rooms are old and not up to date - as well as unmaintained. Very very basic. Room cleaner chemicals they use smell awful. TVs are not smart -- so just channel cable. Lots of noise outside the rooms with workers and guests constantly talking in the hallways - 2nd floor. Bedsheets were spotty. No fridge in room. No vent in washroom - so room gets muggy. Windowsills were dirty and one window didn't full close. Was happy to leave.

I recently stayed at Lakota Oaks, and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. This place is in complete shambles and falling apart at the seams. The condition of the hotel is atrocious; it looks like it hasn’t seen any maintenance or care in decades. The air conditioning was broken during my entire stay, making the room unbearably hot and uncomfortable. When I reported this to the front desk, they assured me that someone was on the way to fix it. That was a blatant lie—no one ever showed up, and my follow-up inquiries were met with the same empty promises. The entire hotel is in a state of disrepair. The carpets are stained and threadbare, the walls are peeling, and the furniture looks like it was salvaged from a junkyard. Nothing works properly, from the lights flickering on and off to the leaky faucets in the bathroom. Lakota Oaks is a disaster zone that should be bulldozed to the ground. Staying here was one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Avoid at all costs!

Recently stayed here for a corporate training event. Unfortunately there is nothing redeeming about this place at all. 1) The entire property is in dire need for an update. Wall paper in several rooms was peeling off 2) The gym is lacking with either broken or missing equipment 3) Rooms smell and the AC was barely working. The whole property seemed uncomfortably humid 4) The bathtub kept filling up with water when it wasn’t being used 5) Broken soap dispensers in the bathroom that clearly had not been cleaned 6) Mediocre food at best. Pretty sure powdered eggs were served for breakfast. Also, a few of the meals seemed very random, almost as if they were clearing out leftovers. Many of my colleagues ended up leaving the property for dinner as they were so unimpressed The only thing that was somewhat positive was the generally friendly staff and desserts served at meals. I can only assume that the owners just don’t care about this place and are just milking it for what it’s worth. It’s actually embarrassing given their complete disregard for their customer experience. Stay ANYWHERE else, I promise you will be happier!

I went to a company retreat here and have a lovely stay. The property is beautiful and as a former Monastery, it has a lot of interesting history. The staff is great. The food is delicious...AND I was able to schedule an in-room massage! This place is a hidden gem for sure.

Although the grounds are beautiful, the design is nice, the ambience is relaxed and the staff very polite, I would not give this hotel more than 3 stars because they can use a huge upgrade. The bottom floor rooms have a very strong smell and feel of mold growing there. The third floor (where we ended up staying) was passable.

Location is beautiful but we were part of a wedding party and kept encountering issues with the food service. There were no clear hours for room service, bar service or even when we were allowed to use the restaurant. They kept changing it depending on what group or event they were hosting. The hotel is far from the nearest commercial areas so we could not go out to eat quickly unless we had a car service since the hotel does not offer a shuttle. When we went to ask for the manager to see if we could get at least a place of fruit or cheese he wasn’t available and the attitude of the front desk person was less than friendly. The hotel is beautiful but I believe the customer service experience will prevent me from ever going back to Lakota Oaks or recommend it to anyone.
