K Bar Z Guest Ranch

Perfect end to our 10 day trip exploring Wyoming. K Bar Z was what we needed after going non stop in Yellowstone and Grand Tetons for 7 days. We could do as much or as little as we wanted. The first afternoon was spent relaxing on the porch of our cabin with friends and the kids painting ceramic mugs. Dawna, Trina, Kim and the rest of the staff were fantastic. All the meals were excellent home cooked and served family style with the other guests and staff. Sitting around after meals meeting new people and hearing stories about life on a ranch was a highlight of our stay. We traveled with two 10 year olds and they loved every minute. Horse back trail riding, fishing, board games, relaxing. We hope our travel plans bring us back to K Bar Z again in the future.

Our group of 2 families with two 10 year olds loved every minute of our 3 nights at K Bar Z. Relaxing on the cabin porch, fishing, horse back riding, eating fantastic homemade meals and meeting new people. Could not have asked for anything else more. Great value for the experience we had.

Wonderful experience and people. The ranch is family-run, and they treat you like family. The location is unmatched for beauty. We stayed two nights and wish it had been a month. You can literally unplug and relax here. It really feels like the old west. Great food and lots of it, served family style. They will accommodate special dietary requests as well. Dawna and her staff are excellent cooks. The trail ride at the base of the Cathedral Cliffs was outstanding. Their horses are well cared for and sure-footed. There’s bunch of cute dogs on the ranch who trot along for the trail ride and are fun to pet and scratch. Our room was simple and comfortable. Highly recommend.

K Bar Z Ranch is the ultimate Wyoming experience. No matter if you are from the city or the country, they can accommodate many levels of adventure. Their string of horses are strong, healthy and safe giving you an amazing horse back ride up the mountains (long or short rides are available). Fishing, hunting guide services with the best guides. You won't find a more wholesome family run ranch. Mary Ann and Dawna are so creative with breakfast, lunch and dinner. When you arrive you will be welcomed as a guest and by the time you leave you will feel like you are leaving family. Darling cabins! An authentic Wyoming experience!

While looking for a horseback ride in the mountains, I stumbeled upon this one. I was very lucky, because the season only just started, and there still was lots of snow anywhere. |I was kindly received, and had a beautiful ride through the area. Even spotted some moose! The horses were very fit and nice, and happy to get out there again. We were the first ones of the season to explore the trail, and my very kind guide even had to saw some fallen trees. The views were amazing, and I was very much enjoying every moment. I highly recommend this ranch!!!!

Spent three nights here with my wife and two adult kids, one with her significant||other. Very convenient to the northeast gate of Yellowstone without the souvenir||trading post hoopla of Cooke City. Complete stillness at night and early morning||save the sound of the horses heading back to the corral after a night up in the ||meadow. Cabin was very comfortable with four wide bunks suitable for two as well ||as a sleeping loft. Plenty of hot water and clean towels in the shower. Dawna and her Mom set an excellent table family style with good home cooked meals at reasonable charge. Hank and Calvin, the two wranglers we rode with, were solid young men we could trust knew what they were doing when we clearly did not. I could have spent a month.

I really can't say enough good things about K bar Z. We stayed there for three nights during our 2-week Grand Teton/Yellowstone vacation and this was our absolute favorite stop. Here's what you need to know:||||Location: Beautiful. In the middle of a national forest yet 30 minutes from Silver Gate and 1 hour to Cody. This is "off the grid"- no cell or internet service. ||||Facilities: We used the RV hook-up which had electric and water. The cabins are super cute with fireplaces. The dining hall has a front porch for hanging out and is plenty big for the 35 or so guests the ranch accommodates.||||Food: Delicious. Donna, Kim, and Margaret go out of there way to make sure that the meals are good quality and tasty. We ate breakfast and dinner there every day- even our "picky eater" kids liked it.||||Hospitality: The owner Dave and his sister Donna are there to make sure you enjoy your stay with them. This attitude is echoed by all the staff. Truly couldn't be nicer.||||Activities: We did the all day (5 hour) horseback ride with lunch one day. While my wife and I have ridden quite a bit, our kids had only gone a few times. Everyone loved this experience. They have great horses and Calvin did a fantastic job leading us. ||We also used their boats and hiked during our visit. ||||Internet/cellular: They don't have it. This is what we were looking for but you should know this going in. I truly think our kids appreciated being completely disconnected for these few days. ||||Price: Affordable and fair. You can spend a lot more on a ranch vacation without getting anything more than you will get here. You also don't have to worry about minimum stays or all-inclusive pricing for activities you may not use. ||||Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. We definitely plan on going back!

K Bar Z Ranch is an absolutely amazing place!!! The hospitality was wonderful! They treat you like kings and queens. The food was so tasty, the cabin was super clean, comfortable beds, the horse ride memorable, and the fishing great! You will not be disappointed! Our family of 5 was on a 10 day vacation, and our 2 nights here were by far the best!
