★★★★★The Great Blue Heron was recommended to us by locals in Ketchikan. The place was warm and cozy and the view of the harbor right out our windows was delightful. Although I thought at first communication with our host was a bit confusing to figure out, she was there when we needed info. Especially when we discovered after we left Craig and Prince of Wales island that my wife left behind a shoulder bag with her medicine and checkbook. When we texted oir host to tell her we thought it was still in our room, she texted back that she had her cleaner check the room, who found it, who called within a half hour to report that the bag would be sent to us via freight collect on one of the air service planes the next morning! What a relief. |A great Southeast Alaska experience.

★★★★The Blue Heron Inn is conveniently located within walking distance of several places of interest in Craig. This includes a grocery, pizzeria, bank, post office, and the Craig Tribal Association building. The inn, itself, overlooks a marina. We traveled as two couples and rented Room #2 and Apartment Suite #4. The suite with its full kitchen was a convenient gathering place for the four of us for meals, etc. Room #2 also has a kitchenette. The covered deck, which is accessible from the suite, served as a great place to relax early in the morning and in the evening. The inn was clean and all the amenities were functional. ||||The pictures on the inn’s website give an accurate depiction of the rooms and the immediate area surrounding the premises. Breakfast is not served and the establishment should not be confused with a B&B. The full kitchen allowed us to prepare multiple meals during our stay. We departed as very satisfied customers.

★★★★★My wife and I stayed at the Blue Heron last week on a research trip to Prince of Wales Island. We'd booked two nights but due to aircraft issues, missed the ferry and had to cancel the first night. Regrettable because our suite was so comfortable we could have spent a week there. The beds are especially good. As a novelist, I'm always looking for interesting places to write--and the deck outside overlooking the harbor was spectacular. ||We will definitely stay here again.

★★★★★The Blue Heron Inn offers 4 well appointed suites situated next to the Craig Harbor... Each has its own full bathroom, plus satellite TV, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, utensils, plus a shared washer /dryer etc = perfect for both short & long stays :)). The rooms are very clean, beds are cozy, and its central location offers easy foot access to shops, grocery stores, and cafes... this is one of my favorite places to stay on Prince of Wales Island -- enjoy :))

★★★★★We have stayed at the great Blue Heron Inn twice and both times rented the room with the kitchen and fire (gas) as well as two other rooms. It is cozy and well appointed. We usually cook and work and the beds are very comfortable. I look forward to our next visit. Only criticism is there are only 3 forks in the kitchen. They could use a few more. Or BYOF?! Thanks!

★★★★★We stayed in Room #5 on the ground level. The room was large, bright, and immaculately clean, and it was literally feet from the water so the view was great. It also had a private deck area on one side of the common deck. We noted in the guest log in the room that other previous guests who wrote a note were universally pleased with the accommodation. It featured nice touches like a jacuzzi tub, tempurpedic mattress, electric gas-fired fireplace, and satellite TV. Wine glasses and a coffee maker were provided in the room. However in the shared kitchen and lounge area there was also a Keurig coffee maker with complimentary coffees and teas. The refrigerator was stocked with complimentary fresh fruit, yogurt, half and half, bread, butter, and even a bottle of cabernet sauvignon. The cooking facilities included a toaster, kitchen range, and pots and pans, pancake flour, etc. Overall we were just delighted with our two night stay. We did meet Tammy, the owner, but had little time to visit with her.

★★★★The Blue Heron is a small cozy place with four rooms. The room was cozy with the basics including a very comfortable bed. There is no bathroom counter space and the shower stall is small, but nothing that was unpleasant. The breakfast part was instant oatmeal or cold cereal with a small bottle of milk, apple juice, a single container of yogurt, and coffee. The juice wasn't replenished though and being lactose intolerant I had a small box of dry cereal. There is a grocery store about 1/2 mile so I was able to get bagels and more juice. I was woke up by the voices from the next room (or downstairs not sure which) at 5:30am one morning, so the walls/floors are thin. Overall, it was a quaint place and even though there are a few minor negatives and now knowing it, I'd still stay there again.

★★★★★This review is for the Bucareli Bay location.||I traveled to Craig, Alaska for business and for the 2 nights I stayed on Prince of Wales Island, I called Blue Herron Inn, Bucareli Bay my home. I sincerely wish my stay on they island was longer so that I could take further advantage of this quaint B&B.||The room was tastefully decorated, very clean, and had a kitchen songs a common area with breathtaking views of the water and mountains from every window.||Just to stand on the deck and hear the whales in the distance was awe inspiring.||The beds are memory foam mattresses and are super comfortable.||I really can't attest to the breakfast, I did not partake, but I can't say enough good things about the overall accommodations.||There was no interaction with the staff, check in consisted of grabbing a note with my name on it off the front door with instructions to my room. ||Checkout was just as easy. The entire stay was a beautiful solitary escape and a respite from the 9 to 5 world.||Bucareli Bay spoiled this traveler who spends too much time on the road for work, and I look forward to returning there in the future, though it is up for sale do who knows if it will be a B&B when I next return on the Spring.||
