Wow - what a find! The photo's show room #4 - what a quaint place. I believe this building was the General's quarters. The proprietor, who checked us in was a charming man - full of information and advice. The best advice was regarding the bear viewings and the drive to Whitehorse (which is spectacular). The room was comfortable, warm & clean with outstanding views.

Cute little hotel about a 5-10 min walk from downtown Haines. It's an old army barracks (from Ft. Seward) and some of the buildings have been repurposed into the hotel. It definitely feels old (like 1900s old) but I think that adds to its charm. Room is heated by radiator, and there is hot and running water (and a claw foot tub in our room!). Our room accommodated 4, but I know there are some rooms that accommodate 2 as well.

Fantastic vintage hotel with amazing views of the harbour and mountains. It's a little dated but very charming. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the manager is super friendly and helpful. Really cool place to stay. Beats the cookie cutter Holiday Inn/Best Western/You Name it hotel chains any day.

This is a wonderfully eccentric and clean hotel! Its older, the floor boards creak, and it does lack some amenities normally seen in modern hotels. But Hey... this Haines Alaska. You are going to be in a historic building and experiencing a once in a lifetime adventure....|(Also the staff are friendly and helpful!)

If you want old charm, this is place for you. Definitely in need of outside repairs. |Inside is original hardwood stairs, doors and windows. |The room was pretty big. 2 double beds, comfy beds and great bedding. Had a tv (small and far away from beds) and fridge. |Bathroom was claw foot tub with shower curtain around 3/4 of the way for the shower. Didn’t need much cold water added. Low pressure as well. |Tips: turn on hot water 5 mins before you want to shower. Same for sink. Depending on where your room is located - Close the bathroom curtains or you’ll be flashing the cars going by…

Reserved a room for my boss and his wife to rest before their long drive to Anchorage in Haines, AK. After they got off the Ferry at 4:30 a.m., they drove to the hotel. Jeff was so kind and understanding when I made the reservation, with such positivity. He left them the key to their room to help themselves when they arrived. My bosses wife was so pleased with the clean room and the historic nature of the hotel, and she appreciated the hospitality of Jeff working with their schedule. Made their travels back to Anchorage so much more pleasurable.

Great proprietor. Cool building. A bit dilapidated and the layout of our room was strange (sink and mirror by the bed vs in the bathroom). Not a great location for eating and shopping, because it’s 15 minutes on a hill to get downtown. However, this location is more beautiful than downtown.

This hotel is fantastic! The owner, Jeff, could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. The hotel is fabulously quirky and unique. Every room is different. There were 13 of us and everyone loved it. We spent 10 nights in three different Alaska towns and our two nights in Haines was the highlight of the trip. The hotel offers everything you need - comfy beds, good internet and 24 hour coffee!! It’s not fancy, but it is the perfect Alaska hotel.
