Service was fine, shoutout to the 1 lady with the fun haircut who helped us. However, - We had bedbugs. - We switched rooms and had to switch again because the one they assigned us smelled like smoke. - Our car got broken into and there are no cameras on prem. Got a very curt "Park at your own risk" from (presumably) the manager. - Folks idle in the parking lot and some of the stairways smell of car exhaust. You need to hold your breath. Was very glad to get out of there.

Worst place ever. Old and in need of repairs. One elevator by desk, had to walk all way around hotel to our room on 3rd floor which was almost at the front desk. Used elevator to take things to our room. Sure got our exercise! We reserved queen bed, got full size instead, very uncomfortable. No cups in bathroom, had 2 towels, 2 washcloths, 2 hand towels. Only one device could use internet. Cold bag breakfast which we didn't even try. Pool closed by health department. Dirt on a/c vents. The "dresser" for clothes was made of heavy cardboard. We reserved 5 days but after 2 we left and went to another better motel at next exit. A little more money but we'll worth it. Doubtful we'll ever use Days Inn as a choice when traveling.

Positive: Location was great. Negative: The hotel is run down and the shower was not clean and leaked onto the floor. Tiles were loose in the bathroom where the water had leaked. There were lots of folks just 'hanging around' and there were folks coming in and out all night and smell of smoke.

We arrived late in the evening and it did feel a bit sketchy, random men lurking in the stairwells etc. but it’s what you expect. Not sure I’d bring children here. Considering we arrived late in the evening, the service was good. Our tv didn’t work and the person at the front desk offered us to switch rooms immediately. Super simple. Like other reviews, we did have issues with key cards working. But the front desk was always manned and polite when this issue came up. Walking distance to the town center, which considering we came via train (Solana beach) was a great bonus. Room included a mini fridge and felt clean, particularly the bathroom. We loved Encinitas and when we return we will probably stay here. Thank you to the workers for an experience that has me coming back and writing out a review all these months later.

Positive: Price and location were great. Receptionist was really nice Negative: Unfortunately I could hear people talking outside, walking above me and the toilet flushing above me. Ask for a room upstairs. They are going to remodel next year hopefully they do some soundproofing.

ABSOLUTELY DONT STAY HERE EVEN FOR THE AFFORDABILITY !!!! I came to Del Mar for a co petition and the rates were great, they had me in a bottom floor which I thought ok no biggie, they have long term people staying here and every night these people were stomping around and banging stuff alllll night, I thought it was a fluke but nope every night my whole stay, on the third night I got so desperate to sleep I called the front desk which I knew was a waste of time, the guy who answers said no security and when I told him what was going on he said “ ok no worries” ?????? I mean yeah for you, but for me that needs to sleep and compete the next morning this is ridiculous. The room is run down which I was going to give grace for because again the price but at the end of the day your going to get what you pay for I guess… so honest review just stay away, I will spend the extra money next time and go somewhere else.

We booked the hotel for 5 days, and at least 3 days, from Tuesday to Sunday, the guests above us made a lot of noise- it sounded like somebody threw the heavy boll on the floor, but as I understood later, there were children who were running back and forth and stomped so hard that the ceiling literally shook. There were 2 employees on the front desk who switched each other, and all Friday and Saturday (at least 5 times) I asked both of them to do something with noise- first time I was told that they will speak with these guests, but the next time when the noise didn’t stop and I went downstairs to ask the employee what’s going on, I was told that guests don’t open the door and don’t answer the phone and I can try to speak with them by myself - it’s really wonderful, isn’t it? - especially considering that the guests made a noise at nighttime as well and just didn’t let me to sleep properly. After several more attempts to talk to the staff and convince them to do something with noise, at least give me a new room, I was promised (it was Saturdays night) that they will go to the guests’s room and open the door by their key if the noise wouldn’t stop. Of course, It happened again. On Sunday’s morning I told to the employee that it’s impossible for me to tolerate this anymore, and she came to the guest’s room and finally spoke with them. When she came back to my room, she told me that the guests are checking out, and when I asked her what they said, instead of answering me she asked me do I have kids. Excuse me, but why the hell did she ask me this question? What does this have to do with other’s people children disturbing others guests? Instead of asking these people why they didn’t open the door when she knocked and then called them, she asking me a personal question and it seemed like it should be excuse for these people to act so carelessly towards other guests only because they have kids. Dear staff, children are first and foremost a responsibility and not an excuse for a careless attitude towards to other people. This is your direct responsibility to give people the right to peace once they pay you. Thanks for running my vacation! P.S . There is always a problem with electronic keys, they just don’t open the door, you have to change them often.

Excellent staff at this very clean hotel. Greeted by the lovely Shannon who gave me my choice of rooms, clean pool, and extremely convenient location which became extremely necessary in an emergency event taking me to the hospital just three minutes away. The rooms are not brand new but they are perfectly clean and neat. Breakfast included too!
