The worst rv park I have been to let alone an Air Force park. No maintenance goatheads all over. No host park. They should be embarrassed to call this an Air Force Family rv park. Close it down and rebuild with on-site office and store. This place is pitiful.

We were very disappointed with our experience at Mountainhome FamCamp. Despite calling four days in advance and submitting an online form, we received no confirmation, call back, or email. When we arrived on a Wednesday, no staff were present, and the campground appeared unattended. The sites themselves were underwhelming and clearly in need of maintenance and care. After traveling for several days to get here, it was frustrating to find that no space had been reserved for us—despite a dozen open sites being available.

OK campground on a nice base. No on-site presence so make sure you have your emailed information handy so you know your spot. We had someone without reservations in our spot upon arrival but they moved when asked. Reservations are needed as it stays busy. Enter through the main gate but use the far right lane even though it's gated if you have a larger rig as the turns in the other 2 lanes are very tight. The gate guard will open the right lane for you. Lots of goat heads and spurs in the grass if you have dogs watch where you walk them. There's a dog park that's fairly free of them. Laundry is small but free. Decent spot if you need to stay in the area. Lots of jet noise.

No host campground. Fulltime NAF employee is located with Outdoor Rec. Names for spots and check out days are posted on electrical boxes. A good deal for the $21/night fee. FamCamp is located about a mile from main gate, small in size with mostly long-term residents. Appeared to be 4 rotational spots, all pull throughs right up front. We have a big rig, and because of tight spaces and car parking, we couldn't navigate the roads and chose to back i to our site. Concrete pad was level and right sized. It was warm, but we could only run 2 of our A/C units, as 3rd would trip the 50 amp breaker (at around 40 amps). Pull through sites were not long enough to stay connected, but there was parking just ahead of the transient sites. Nice dog park, shovels provided for cleanup after yiur pets.

I had a reservation, they gave my spot to another camper because they gave his spot to another camper. Very unprofessional. Be careful.

As others noted, no onsite host. Attempted to use the restroom with the code provided and the code did not work so be prepared to have an alternative means to shower/use the restroom. We stayed in June and it was very hot and dry, with no grass. There is a self-care wash just down the street and we were able to fit our 13’6” fifth wheel in it to wash. $20 gets an hour worth of a wash. Commissary and PX are also close by. Great price and would stay again.

I was stationed at Mountain Home from 96-2000 and it was a nice base with lots of great MWR and base facilities. We visited summer of 2023 and it was sad to see how run down the entire base is and worst of all of them is the Famcamp. Trees need to be cut, fallen branches laying about, goatheads (aka puncture vine) everywhere, old BBQ grills in disrepair and sitting under the gazebos. We went to what used to be the NCO club for a beer and burger and nothing was open. Driving around base you don't see anybody, it's like a ghost town. The only place to get a meal other than the food court at the BX was the bowling alley. We had to wipe our own table and the TVs in what was supposed to be a sports bar were showing Star Wars and the workers there seemed to be engrossed in that instead of cooking and cleaning. I understand they've made cuts in the budget but other bases seem to manage to at least keep their facilities presentable and functional. I would recommend skipping Mountain Home Famcamp unless you're really desperate for a place to stay.

Overnight tent camped here on a multi day road trip. Convenient stopping place, quiet, and safe location. Showers were nice and clean however there was no host or other way to get PIN except to ask one of the long term camper residents. Tent pads are situated on either side of covered picnic shelters and ours was not clearly marked, but wasn't a concern as we were the only tenters. Pads need some maintenance as they are overgrown in weeds, uneven sand, and many had ant nests.
