I booked a stay at the Sun Valley Inn expecting a relaxing and enjoyable weekend, but my experience was anything but. I originally wanted to stay at the Lodge, but since it was full, I opted for the Inn based on its reputation. Unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment.||They put me in a room next to a broken handicap-accessible door that let out a loud, high-pitched squeal every time it opened. Between that and the paper-thin walls, I could hear every single sound from the hallway—people coming and going at all hours of the night. I got the worst night of sleep I’ve ever had, which completely ruined my weekend. I was only in Sun Valley for two nights (Friday to Sunday), meaning I had just one full day to ski—but I was so exhausted from the lack of sleep that I couldn’t even go.||On top of that, the room itself was a huge letdown. For the price, I expected something nice, but instead, it was worn down and dated—nowhere near the level of quality you'd expect from a high-end resort.||When I brought up the noise issue to management, they admitted they were already aware of the problem with the door—so why would they put anyone in that room to begin with? They did move me to a different room, but the damage was done. I asked for a full refund for the first night since my entire weekend was ruined, but they only offered half off. To top it all off, they still charged me a resort fee, even though I had already prepaid for everything (including taxes and fees) through Priceline.||For over $500 a night, this kind of experience is completely unacceptable. Instead of a relaxing ski getaway, I ended up stressed, sleep-deprived, and frustrated. I expected far better from a place with Sun Valley’s reputation, but I won’t be returning.

Spent 3 nights at SVL while skiing Bald Mountain|It’s dated but sort of by design because of the rich history. Has sort of a country club feel.|It was very busy, super crowded in all common areas and restaurant. |Lift tickets can be purchased at the front desk, which was convenient ||Rooms - renovated and nice. SmartTVs and otherwise well appointed||Restaurant - excellent with friendly and attentive staff||Gym - Excellent, renovated and spacious||Location - not ski-in, ski-out (Sun Valley does not have any hotels that are ski in/out). But short walk about 3 minutes to the bus stop. Bus comes every 15 minutes and runs exceptionally on time, so easy to plan exactly when you want to get your ride to the lifts. About 10-15 minute ride to the River Run lifts. Walking distance to some small shops and small restaurants, but there is not much else in the immediate walking area. ||Front desk Staff - Adequate||Overall - Nice experience. Would definitely stay again but certainly would be price conscious because it’s more of a upper 3-star or lower 4-star experience, so would only be willing to pay the correlating prices for that level

My daughter accidentally left her favorite scarf at the front desk. We didn't realize it until hours later. Sapphire had not only found it, but had it safely stored with a note of our room number. Her honesty and care were so appreciated. It's that kind of attention to detail and genuine kindness that makes Sun Valley special. Thanks Sapphire

I can not say enough good things about this resort. It is nestled in the beautiful mountains of Idaho. The views are incredible! All of the staff from the bell man to the front desk people to the food and beverage staff all demonstrate the utmost professionalism. They are ready and willing to help guests in any way possible. Sun Valley Resort has everything you could need from plenty of slopes for skiing and snow boarding, to relaxing visits to their spa, dips in their heated pool, eating at any of their 17 restaurants, or enjoying a latte or adult beverage in their lounge areas that face the ice skating rink and the slopes. As if that weren't enough, there is even a village with specialty shops with food, clothing, jewelry, and art. They even have horse drawn sleighs available for rides in the snow through the property. The room are well appointed and spacious with a wet bar, gas fire place, and luxurious bath. The resort is family owned and that shows in how they treat their employees (my brother was employeed by them) and even the family members of their employees. If you love skiing or snowboarding in the winter or experiencing a relaxing and luxurious weekend or vacation, make your way to Sun Valley Resort. You will not regret your decision!!!

If you enjoy trips that cost $400+ for a single night in a tiny room for everything to be closed by 9pm on a Saturday (let's be real: almost everything was actually closed by 6:30pm when we walked through the shops) then this is the place for you. The phone rang for no reason at 8am, the heater clicked LOUDLY the entire night, and the mugs are too small for the coffee maker, so they overflow. The only reason this isn't a 1-star review is that the staff was at least nice in the 3 minutes we got to interact with them.

This is a historic ski lodge that has housed the rich and the famous (Hemingway wrote to whom the bell tolls there) over the years. The outdoor swimming pool is unmissable.

What an amazing time I had although a short 1.5 days for a work retreat. This is definitely better than 3 stars folks! Was there early October a few days in and incredible weather. Service was amazing always available for ride. Lodging was a dream with a few nearby onsite and walking distance restaurants and shops. The spa was incredible with similar layout as the Grand America sister hotel in Utah. Lodging rooms definitely fit family of 4! And very spacious! There is an ice skating rink and bowling alley onsite as well as an immaculate pool.
