We stayed at The Hotel at Midtown for our wedding last week and it was the best hotel experience I've had in years. The staff were polite and helpful, the room was unbelievable, and the training facility was stellar. I would've stayed in the gym all day if I didn't have to go to my own wedding. I really appreciate the attention to detail throughout the hotel- the boxing gloves are individually mounted on heating/cleaning stands to sanitize them, the coffee and food in the cafe is phenomenal, the use of space for the indoor workouts is set up in a way where even at a high capacity it feels spacious. I don't have a single complaint. Thank you very much for having us.

Avoid This Heartless Dump at All Costs
I booked a stay at The Hotel at Midtown for my brother, a college kid, thinking it’d be a nice break for him. Big mistake. The day of his scheduled stay, he had a medical emergency—rushed to the ER, hooked up to machines, the works. He couldn’t make it, obviously. You’d think a place with “hospitality” in its DNA would show some compassion, right? Nope. They charged him $500 anyway—full price, no mercy—and refused to refund a dime. I explained that this was an emergency, not a no-show. Their response? Cold, corporate nonsense about “policy.” No empathy, no humanity, just a big middle finger to a kid already suffering. $500 might be pocket change to them, but it’s a month’s rent for him. The Hotel at Midtown doesn’t care about people—just your money. Dirty rooms and rude staff are one thing (and trust me, I’ve heard the horror stories), but profiting off a medical crisis? That’s a new low. Save yourself the grief and book literally anywhere else. I hope their management sleeps well knowing they’re screwing over college kids in the hospital. Disgusting.

Great potential but the hotel is not properly staffed… The workers are very kind and respectable, but they do not have enough supervision. They leave one young woman manning the front desk, which is not only dangerous but in efficient. We experienced multiple errors in basic transactions… and no professional leadership . The hotel itself is beautiful clean and they are lucky. They have so many good workers who make this operate, but they will not succeed if they do not get more support to their workers and respect to their guests. Concept is amazing. Club is terrific. Staff is wonderful… Just obviously not managed properly.

Room 414. Don't stay there. We stayed for our anniversary and the hotel is above a large gym with exercise classes etc. The classes started at 5:30AM and our room literally started to shake with the class instructor barking out instructions and everyone jumping around. It was so loud we could almost follow along with the class from our room! We obviously were up for the day. They tried to make it right by offering a $25 at their cafe. If you stay here ask for a room not right above the aerobics class! As a positive note, the view from our room was nice.

Like the other reviews say, this is not a quiet hotel. With a weight room and fitness center in the building, you'll hear noises and your room will shake from people dropping weights starting at 5am until 10pm. If you stay here try to get a room on the top level away from these spaces. They also provide bedside earplugs to help sleep. The hotel is in a good area and offers modern experience.

This has been my gym for years. Amazing facility. Happy staff. Inspiring clientele. The best classes, and unmatched equipment. The atmosphere is always positive. Don't get me started about the wet/dry saunas. I live in them over the winter. It's a sanctuary.

This is a nice new hotel with loads of amenities, but the shoddy workmanship is very noticeable. Firstly, the staff were very nice and helpful. The room was clean and you could tell this place was just built. But also you could tell they rushed to get it built. Lots of things misaligned, fixtures not installed properly or already falling off, etc. this would be ok if it was a Holiday Inn or something, but it wasn't. I've stayed at the Midtown in Atlanta and it was one of the best hotels I had stayed in and it didn't cost near as much as this one. Speaking of which, make sure to book FAR in advance if there is any kind of significant event happening in Chicago. Even if the event is nowhere near the hotel. We booked 6 months out for a wedding and ended up paying $560 for a room with a "view" as it was all that was left that wasn't a suite. And let me tell you... $560 is not worth looking at a Chick Fillet out your window. Aside from the room, it's in a semi-walkable area. Lots of chains available, but nothing is very dense, so you may need an Uber or a car. Excellent coffee in the cafe which is always a plus for me day after a wedding. Overall, it's a decent place, but not worth what we paid. Hopefully they can fix some of the workmanship issues in time.

Buyer beware. The Hotel at Midtown is a nice place to go if you’re wanting an outdoor pool moment or a great workout. It is NOT a place to go if you want to feel rest or rejuvenated in the morning. At 5am, slamming, banging, weights dropping, walls and floors shaking, all took place. It’s impossible to sleep past 5am. Looking for a hotel that you’ll feel refreshed in the am? Choose another.
