We booked the hotel based on reviews. According to the reviews, we thought the rooms might be small, but our room was actually bigger than we expected. We had booked a small queen room, but despite that, there was plenty of space. We arrived at the hotel early, around 11 a.m., but since a room was available, we were able to check in early. When we got to our room, we had a beautiful view of the Chicago River, which was amazing. The sunrise was gorgeous, and the nighttime view was equally beautiful. There was free 24-hour coffee on the second floor, so we had a couple of cups there. It wasn’t great, but it was enough to warm up. The floors had free water stations and devices to refill bottles, so we didn’t have any issues with water. I’d read that the air conditioning was loud, but in our room, it was very quiet. The bathroom and room were clean. The location was great. Since it was in the center, we could easily go outside to explore, and whenever we got cold, we could quickly go back to the hotel, warm up, and enjoy a cup of coffee. I definitely recommend it.

For whatever reason, we didn't get room cleaning until the last night. The location is good though, and the price ratio is reasonable. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel. We did spothero for parking, make sure wherever you pick to get in/out privileges. Downtown Chicago with the upper and lower garages can be difficult to navigate though. We ended up parking at 401 North State street and it was a convenient walk for ~30 per day.

Inexpensive, clean, convenient, great views. Stayed here for the weekend and loved every bit of it! The 35th floor had an amazing view, room was clean, and the second floor has an espresso machine! Pedro at the front desk was a huge help and did everything he could to make my stay comfortable, I would definitely recommend this hotel!

One of the only two elevators was down for all of our 4 days stay in the peak holiday time. It took 15 minutes on average to reach the lobby from the room for us. We had to plan our outings according to the elevators. Not that the staff could’ve done anything to do that, but at least they could’ve shown some urgency in getting it fixed. Location is great but the experience with the stay was bad for us. Would not recommend staying here.

So I recently stayed here on a birthday trip to see my mom. The room was clean, the Fourier was very good looking, and I really had appreciation for the art deco looking style decor the elevators and other amenities had. The only thing I'd say was a drag was having to get my own ice bucket, but who cares. This is a perfect spot to budget and have a good travel experience. Best of all, the neighboring hotel inn patrons where quiet, and the staff let me sleep in and were super nice.....I'll say 4.7. 👍

This hotel is in a great location across from the river. I went in August for my 70th birthday. I was shocked upon arrival to enter a old small dirty room. It's like a upgraded seed motel. We used public transportation from the airport.. Sacramento to Chicago..I wish we would have stayed in town at hotels that were more updated and offered breakfast. Public transportation was great...This hotel also is rental for a lot of folks who sit in the lobby 24 7. I was not impressed with the staff..a bunch of kids standing around talking.. really unprofessional. For the price we paid...I expected much more. Oh the carpet oh so dirty..I ran a wet towel over it..thank God no bed bugs..It's a motel..Do your research but remember this joint ain't all that.

Came in from Dallas and staff was friendly, prompt to assist and super helpful. Rooms were clean and bed was comfy, given the little time we spent in the room. We came in from the spa at 12:30 am with no problems valeting at that time of night.

Positives: •The common areas were clean and looked nice. •My view of the city from my room was amazing, especially at night. •Location of the hotel is ideal because it’s right in the city. •Checking in was easy once you know where to go. The hotel has self-check in services via the tablets. Negatives: •The bed was advertised as being king size. In reality, the bed was two full mattresses combined, and you could feel the split in the middle. •The mini fridge was somewhat dirty and smelled. •The cable on the TV didn’t work. Even after I connected my own phone to access streaming services, the remote didn’t work and there was no way to raise the volume on the TV. •I contacted the staff about some of these issues using their text feature. However, no one ever reached out to me or came to address these issues. While the River Hotel is not the worst option out there, it certainly isn’t my first choice. Note: The room in the video and images is Room 3003.
