Quality Inn Cedar Rapids South

We just needed a place to stay overnight. Traveling cross country but had to stop due to snow. The hotel is pretty standard but there were some nice touches (in addition to being warm on a cold snowy night!). The clerk that checked us in was very friendly, as was the clerk that checked us out the next morning. The hotel has been somewhat updated; older building but looks like flooring is new, bathroom fixtures and counter, beds and maybe other items. Not a complete renovation by any means, but it's nice to see the effort. Water pressure in the shower was very good, which is always a nice surprise. The price was very reasonable. We knew we weren't going to get a gem, but this was a good value for the money. Breakfast could use some improvement; standard fare but the only warm item was a waffle. So, overall, I would certainly stay here again, if it was just for an overnight.

Worst experience ever. Stay away. First room wreaked of smoke. I was told it didn't smell, but they moved me anyway out of the kindness of their heart. The front desk lady was on A PERSONAL CALL ON SPEAKER PHONE THE WHOLE TIME!!. The second room had hair all over the bed (see picture) and stains on the sheet (see picture). I would reccomend finding another place with professional staff and clean sheets. Edit: The front desk lady was extremely rude (shocking since she was on A PERSONAL CALL ON SPEAKER while dealing with me the first time) throughout our interactions and claimed that she could not issue a refund. But when I contacted Expedia they told me they couldn't refund it because she had to. Avoid this hotel like the plague. There is a very nice patriotic hotel in the same parking lot that is clean and professionally staffed.

Showed up after a long drive and room was ready early. I made a mistake when I booked which would have left my daughter and I with 1 bed for 6 days. Front desk clerk changed my room without so much as a question. Front desk clerk was very friendly, very welcoming and after a long drive, got me in my room early and fixed my mistake without question. Awesome, thank you.

Will is the best thing at this hotel. He was very polite, professional, and knowledgeable at checkin. Just the type of person you want to see at the front desk. HOWEVER, stay away from this hotel! Lots of noise & activity throughout the night. There was a party with locals that were loud. There was a propane smell in the halls after midnight and found the late night front desk women had placed a fan in the lobby (trying to suck the smell out). Teens cursing, yelling, and playing music at 5:30 am. Breakfast was very sparse compared to other Quality Inns. Found out somebody had robbed the front desk that night. Police came. Just a lot of creepy things happened during the night at this hotel. We travel often and have crossed this hotel off our list. We have our thoughts regarding all the activity & propane, but will leave that to management & police.

Excellent location in proximity to Hawkeye Downs. We do trade shows there a half dozen times a year and couldn't be happier with the location. The desk clerk was awesome, and an American to boot. He actually took an interest in our well-being and comfort. The only downside is the breakfast is sparse in terms of proteins. There is enough there, just not meat.

🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 The worst hotel experience of my entire life. The front desk man stopped me in the hallway and screamed at me that no one was supposed to be in my room number. I showed him the receipt on my phone for the hotel room I purchased and showed him the key issued to me. He would not listen and continued to insist I stole the room and needed to evacuate the hotel immediately. I was furious. I refused to leave. He called the cops and had me escorted out. I later called to ask to get my money back. They admitted it was a computer error on their part, they HAD seen my credit card on file, and that I did purchased the room. They still refused to give me my money back because I was so upset with them for kicking me out. I would NEVER recommend anyone book a hotel here.

Excellent staff and service; the front desk is outstanding. The breakfast provides a good variety but would be perfect with eggs. Great price.

I would like to say that my experience at this motel was one of the most “fun uplifting, let’s keep it real, kind of stay”… BECCA who works at the front counter… (I hope this goes somewhere) but that girl needs a raise. She made me LAUGH. She was thorough. She was kind, she was everything that lacks in the world today. Pure kindness. KUDOS to her!!! if you get an opportunity to visit Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Please stay at this hotel. BECCA you’re BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING! Keep on Keeping on! A++++++
