The Curio Collection by Hilton is one of my favorite places to stay. The hotels preserve amazing historical and high-end architecture located in convenient locations. Each stay is unique and highly enjoyable. We purchased the daily valet service, and given the extreme cold weather, the valets were godsend. The service is electronic, and I was able to request my vehicle and leave a tip via my phone.

Stunning hotel with amazing history - the rooms are huge and beautifully decorated. However we stayed on Christmas day and there was no bar open. In my opinion this is disgraceful, Hilton should have informed us no bar was open and we would have stayed at another hotel. This was awful. The check in staff - Tanisha in particular was absolutely fantastic. She was so friendly, and to be honest - made our stay. She come to greet us in the morning when we walked down, said goodbye as we left - was an all round pleasure. Mgmt please give her a pat on the back for above and beyond customer service

We had a wonderful stay. Rooms were comfortable and clean. The decor and accents were beautiful! We also enjoyed going to In Confidence, where our waitress was lovely, and enjoyed a latte at Hobnob this morning. After a stroke of really bad luck, I dropped my phone down the elevator shaft through a crack between the doors. Enzi at the front desk was amazing handling our strange situation. They went above and beyond, and were able to get in contact with the elevator company and had my phone back to me in less than 2 hours! Down 9 floors and fully functioning! What a relief! Thank you Hotel Fort Des Moines for the most enjoyable stay, and turning what could’ve been considered a really bad morning into a funny story.

I knew the Hotel Fort Des Moines had new ownership and they had spent something like $50 million in renovations. I had stayed at this hotel many, many years ago, and to say it was rough around the edges was an understatement. No more. The owners have done a masterful job of bringing the hotel back to its 1919 origins; we love staying in updated old hotels and this one was extra special. For example, the carpet in the hallways shows red letter dates in the history of the hotel. The lounge in the main lobby was amazing in its detail. The hotel dining room - Proudfoot and Bird - was absolutely excellent. Our room was very well appointed and very comfortable - and very quiet. As expected from a Hilton, the bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was spacious and clean. The internet was easy to access and worked well. I would have preferred a square rather than round work table, but that is minor. More importantly, there were electrical outlets everywhere; it is hard to believe that anyone would require more outlets than they offer.||Indeed, the hotel gets a very, very high rating from me - except for one really annoying experience. We chose to use valet parking, even though it is pricey; the hotel website listed valet parking at $36/night (an adjacent garage is available for self parking for $18/day). However, when we arrived, a sign at the valet desk listed parking at $38. Worse still, when we received our bill (by text), I was charged $40! Since parking at the hotel is handled by a third party, it is difficult to request correction to the bill. ||But otherwise, our stay was special. And the price of the room was very reasonable given that it was a Hilton Curio hotel.

Rooms are great but if you're not well dressed and their chauffeur sees you smoking on the sidewalk he'll call security on you. As a Dimond member its a really awkward situation to be in when the hotel staff assumes you shouldn't be there. The restaurants and all other hotel staff are next class but the guy who drives you from the airport is a real stuck up. (I suggest putting a real fancy no smoking sign up around the building before escalating the situation. It's very disrespectful to be told by security "we need to consider our guests" when you are a guest and a Hilton loyalist.) ((And for anyone reading into this; I was frequently outside smoking until their chauffeur was escorting a pilot from the airport. The chauffeur gave me the 'decorative' salute, looked me up and down, and told me to walk somewhere else with my cigarette. There wasn't an issue smoking there until that guy saw me. How would you feel to be put into a situation like that? Especially when you're wearing dirty work boots and jeans in a place like this.))

Nice stay in an old, but totally refurbished hotel. The Hotel Ft Des Moines has a long history in Des Moines, going back to the early 20th century. Remodeled and updated. Lots of history, Prohibition speakeasy that still exists, Krushchev stayed here in 1959 during his Iowa visit. Lots of dignitaries have stayed there during the Iowa caucuses. Proudfoot & Bird restaurant is on the 1st floor, fine dining, excellent service.

Outstanding service from start to finish! Tanisha at the front desk went above and beyond to resolve my issue swiftly, all while maintaining a warm, welcoming demeanor. From the moment I arrived, her professionalism truly stood out. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful interiors and an unbeatable location that made exploring the area a breeze. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-notch stay!

I recently used the valet service at the Hotel Fort Des Moines, and I was genuinely impressed. The staff was friendly and efficient, making the check-in process smooth. My car was returned quickly and without any issues, which was a relief after a long day. Overall, the hotel had a great atmosphere, and the valet service was a perfect complement to the experience.
