Holiday Inn Express Rochester NE - Irondequoit by IHG

I just want to start out saying I love the Holiday inn express! Managers and staff have always been great. Where i see a lack of is in your maintenance department. Caulk around tubs and toilets, faulty fixtures, cosmetic stuff and the pool being down was a huge disappointment. Other then that I would like to say Erika Peterson made up for any inconvenience's. She is top notch and very professional. What seem to be a bad choice in hotel ended up worth the stay. Erika Peterson is her name and we will stay there again because of her hospitality. As a travel nurse this hotel has been amazing. Even when the hotel is full, it's quiet. I never hear noise from guests in the hall or above floors. Rooms are clean, big comfy beds with lots of pillows, flat screen TV with decent amount of channels. Front desk staff are always super nice and the continental breakfast has a lot of great options.

The bed was comfortable and clean and there were lots of towels in the clean but dated bathroom. The chain latch was missing on my room door and bracket was there, loose and broken. Staff seemed dispirited but functional, pool was unavailable, and hotel was unable to answer questions about or facilitate local transportation. The one email I sent was answered promptly and politely, however.

Drove to Rochester to drop off my son at college. Didn’t want to drive so many hours in one day so stayed one night. Convenient to the highway. Directions say to get off Goodman St but I think it’s better to get off an exit before. Breakfast was okay, the pancake maker was out of order so there was only eggs and sausage. The bread wasn’t anything to write home about. There was no butter. But room and hallway are clean which is the most important.

We have only one complaint about this property, though it is significant. The bathtub was not treated to prevent slipping, and I did slip. Moreover, the property managers did not seem to care that, because of their negligence, I slipped in the bathtub while taking a shower and injured myself. The truth is that, but for the fact that I lived in Maryland, I would have sued for damages.

Rooms were clean and well set up / stocked. Breakfast was the disappointing part of our stay. By 930, Items were not restocked - pancake machine was running out of batter and even after replacement of bag it still didn't make pancakes well. Dairy fridge was fairly empty. Bowls / napkins weren't replenished quickly. Hot water carafe was also empty. Hot food in the trays could use some improvement - sausages and eggs looked dry and eggs were cold. Felt like no one was tending to the breakfast area during our stay, perhaps they were short staffed that day but it needs someone to work on replenishing items quickly so guests are left with nothing to eat 20 mins to close.

The hotel and room were very clean. Needed to use personal cell to call front desk because the room phone did not work. I called the front desk to install the shower seat which was on the floor under the sink. It was not something I could do. The soap dispensers by the sink were too high on the wall for accessibility. The furniture etc is worn out. From the front desk into the room, the place needs a makeover. There were thick mattress toppers on low beds. Low beds were excellent for someone with ambulatory issues. Thick mattress toppers make it difficult to shift position for many people with physical disabilities. I got out of bed 3x during the night to completely try a new position.

A home like atmosphere quality cleanliness and friendliness that goes beyond. Front desk staff ensures a wonderful stay and makes sure that you as a guest feel like family. The rooms are quiet and clean and the beds are very comfortable this hotel is highly recommended and best yet they have a wonderful breakfast waiting in the morning!
