Had a really nice stay here. Marlene was very nice and helpful. Beds were comfortable and I was able to cook our meals with the kitchen and equipment provided. We would stay again!

This is a quirky company-town 5-plex built in the 1940s or 1950s. The nearby mill made pine tongue-and-groove boards, which line the walls of all of the units with beautiful knotty pine 70-year-old patina. The owner has decorated the rooms in "themes" and the decor is eclectic and fun. And comfortable! These were homes for families and have lots of storage, living rooms and dining areas, and full kitchens! The owner is very nice, the prices are reasonable and comfortable.||There are a couple of caveats. Gilchrist isn't much for tourists beyond houses and a convenience store. Nearby Crescent is much better. You'll have to stock up in La Pine or even Bend to the North. But we like to stay in Gilchrist precisely for this reason.||Also, motorcycle-friendly!

Marlene the host was amazing and the room was such a good value! The room was large and included a living room and kitchen! I really appreciated the decorations as well. Talking to Marlene was the best part! She is very responsive and kind! We had a great time visiting her here! The place was great and I would love to stay here again!

The worst excuse for a friendly place I have ever been to In My Life! The owner has no respect for your privacy. Tell them not to clean your room, they come in anyways. Then they used the excuse for cleaning to Snoop around and take pictures of your personal items. Then when this room cleaning is supposed to be going on they only pull your bedspread up they don't even change your sheet. I could go on and on and on and on but you get the picture. WORST experience ever.

Owner Marlene was incredibly friendly and very considerate making sure our stay was comfortable. Great price for the lodging with two bedrooms, bathroom and living room. A friend and I needed somewhere to stay last minute and she was very kind to help us. Thank you Gilchrist In!

A great place to stay. I called the owner on short notice and she went out her way to find me a room for the night. The rooms are fantastic. Quiet, clean and huge. 1200 square feet huge! Full kitchen, big living /dining room, two big bedrooms. The owner is very friendly and really cares about her property.

We had lots of space!! We stayed in one of five units and I wished we had prepared for this stay. You had a kitchen, dining room and large screen TV in the living room. It was decorated in 60's style with a cute red and white kitchen. Very comfortable and manager was very accommodating. Location is about 30 minutes from Crater Lake and not much in the choices for eating but the lodging we can recommend i.

We stayed in unit #1 for 6 nights. It had three bedrooms, one bath, a full sized living room, kitchen with full sized oven and fridge, and two smaller misc. rooms for sleeping and playing. The beds were VERY comfortable and clean, and the two leather sofas and two leather rocking recliners were also comfy and relaxing. They days and nights were quiet and peaceful. Our children enjoy playing on the manicured lawn right outside of our unit. The hostess came in as often as needed to clean up. This being said, I'm surprised that there in no washer and dryer, as the hookups are all there. Instead, there is a twin bed in what used to be the laundry room. I would gladly have paid more per night to have the washer and dryer, rather than drive the twenty minutes into La Pine, and another hour doing laundry at the laundromat. Also, there is no AC or other type of cooling system in our unit. Instead each room had an oscillating fan. The days were cooler when we stayed here so the fans were just fine. Update 08/31/2018: I received a call from the owner a few days after we left, saying that our children wet the bed and now she needs to treat it as a bio hazard. She was going off of stains left on the mattress pads....... Odd that the stains were not on the sheets. Needless to say this was not from us. Anyway, the owner is a nice lady, but just be aware that you may be getting a call if she finds stains after you leave.
