NillI reserved a two queen bed room and was shocked at how tiny the room was! The beds were up against a wall on both sides with just a narrow area to walk between them. Really old sofa chair in the room with one foot that looked sort of broken. I discovered the TV had some sort of volume control on it, it could only be turned up to 25. I understand not wanting to disturb other guests, but I could barely hear it because I'm hard of hearing. I liked the inside-outside concept of the building and rooms, but it wasn't build with spacious in mind. The front lobby should have been an indication of how cramped the rooms would be. The breakfast was ok. The pool looked nice, but the hot tub was only lukewarm, just like the shower temp, no hot shower, barely lukewarm and froze in the tub with the fan going the whole time. Not 100% pleased, would find other accommodations next time. Location was great, tho, very centrally located for all the sites.

NillDoes it need updated probably, was it clean and comfortable pretty much. There were little pest bugs(wasp and a flying beetle that's all over the hills) but that happens. The one issue i could see for people would be poolside rooms are right next to pools our kids were a little rambunctious and woke a gentleman up(if you see this I am truly sorry.) We had 3 bed whirlpool suite heads up it does not have a curtain blocking off whirlpool. The whirlpool by the pool is a little bit weak but was hot and worked. Pool was warm and clean. Breakfast was as good as Holiday Inn.

NillSave your money and get a better quality hotel. The tv and cable didn’t work and wouldn’t connect to the signal. Wiring was bad. The hot and cold water faucet were backwards. We also had bees in our room. Bathroom toilet is practically so low that you have to push on your knees to stand up.

★★★We did a 3 nighter at this motel to view the monuments and ride the local train. They place is old, and it shows. It was basically clean, not spotless. Rooms are small and tight. Ground floor parking is crowded with pillars. The breakfast was usually eggs, sausage and waffles, plus the usual cereal. The motel is walking distance to the downtown area. I would stay again. Biggest complaint is the porch lights are kept on all night, and the rooms need blackout curtains to escape the brightness.

NillSecond stay here. Nothing negative to say. Love the breakfast, always make the waffles. Perfect location. If you get the suit it nice for a big family.

NillThere are better places to stay. We weren’t in the room much, mostly to sleep. So if that’s all you need, it will do. Close to Mt. Rushmore and Custer SP. Needs a major renovation. Parking is tight and there is a very steep ramp to second level parking.

NillThe location is great ! Nice views of the forestry and town, seen some wild life. The beds were super comfortable and breakfast was so good. I’m already planning another visit to the area- so much fun. And I’ll definitely rebook here.

★★★I wasn't impressed at all with hotel considering it's in a big tourist area. Someone needs to have given more thought when designing this hotel. I would not stay here again-our room was as big as a big closet and considering the inn wasn't full we should have had a better room unless all the rooms are cramped. The location was great-we walked through the town getting our meals and ice cream. This was the best part of staying here.
