La Quinta Inn and Suites by Wyndham at WaTiki Waterpark

Good off-season price. Front desk staff gets 5 stars. Room seemed great at first - nice bathroom, hot shower, plenty of room. Free pass to the water park was really cool but was too over-crowded for me. Sheets and pillow cases had stains. Stray hairs in the bathroom. Shower head needed maintenance. Furniture seemed to be in rough shape as well. Nowhere is perfect. The main thing that ruined my experience and caused me to get only about an hour of sleep was the paper thin walls and the other guests being inconsiderately loud for all hours of the night - and this wasn't even a weekend night.

The check in staff was rude and uninformative. The elevators were on the other side of my headboard. All night and early in the morning they were loud. The pool was definitely extremely overcrowded and extremely unsafe. I seen several kids hurt, one being mine. I maybe seen 1 lifeguard the two times we swam. The pool staff was nowhere to be found and we waited over a hour for "stress free complementary pool towels" my 2 year old was shivering terribly until my family of 5 went back to our room soaking wet and frozen. Even though the room didn't have enough towels for us all we had to share. My room also didn't have enough pillows for 5 people. Breakfast was a nightmare. My son burned his finger on the cast iron waffle maker. Coffee was no where to be found (even in the lobby) another guest told me to just go in the kitchen and get it myself or I wouldn't get any. The "restaurant" food was not impressive at all. We ordered the "date night" and was told the nacho cheese wouldn't be ready for another 45 min after we got all our food, then was told we had to pay a extra $1 for ranch... that was comical considering the nacho cheese wasn't coming any time soon. House keeping seemed to be the only staff working. The gal sitting on her phone the whole time at the top of the slides was concerning, not keeping a close eye on safety? We visited the arcade. I should have known it would have been disappointing. A lot of the games aren't working, don't have prizes in them, or would shut off and restart while my kid was playing. I spent $50 on credits and my kids left with a plastic ring and a few tootsie rolls. Prizes were very slim to none and very lame. I wanted to purchase some plush watiki monkeys from the gift shop for all 3 of my kids (they were pictured on the website in the gift shop) those weren't avaliable. All the hype, very disappointing.

I couldn’t be more happy with a hotel experience. The rooms were typical but clean. Pillows weren’t little flat but that aspect was so easy to overlook because the best part of this hotel is its amazing staff. The front desk gentleman who checked us in made it so easy, he answered questions before we ever got to ask them. Breakfast staff was very upbeat had smiles and kept the waffles going to help avoid long wait times. We ran low on towels and asked room service staff for some more and unlike other places where you felt like you bothered them, their room service staff were smiling and making sure there wasn’t anything else we needed. Absolutely the best staff any hotel could ask for, amazing people. The water park was absolutely the highlight of the stay for my children. It was very fun, they have areas for all age groups to play. Was cleaned and had lifegaurds. Only downside was inability to keep up with towels in the pool area. We will absolutely be visiting again though as this hotel has the most amazing staff and experience for the money. Great stay for us.

Great value for the price with the waterpark included and so convenient to the rooms. The waterpark was fantastic and the place had a warm comfortable temp! As far as the hotel, the service was mediocre. Breakfast was good but not much variety from day to day. The hot water in the shower did not get hot enough.

We had a great experience at La Quinta. We needed to make a last minute trip to Rapid City and tried to make it a fun overnight for our whole family since the rates were very affordable. The staff was nice and accommodating at every turn! They treated the adults, our 5 teens, and our dog with great respect. The rooms were fine for what we needed and having the water park right there was perfect. We were very impressed and would stay again in a heartbeat!

Really fantastic price for the water park being included. We stayed 4 nights. Everything was excellent. Only complaint is the other loud guests at ungodly hours. Otherwise couldn't recommend it any more. Everything in the Black Hills very accessible from here and the water park was a great way for the kids to unwind after getting back from sight seeing.

Stayed here for the included water park passes. Cute room in great condition. No obvious wear and tear. Large flat screen television which was easy to hook a laptop up to. The room smelled clean when we walked in. Love that they have full size shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Very nicely lit bathroom mirror for makeup or grooming, and of course the water park. In terms of that the water park does feel a bit dated and could probably be freshened up and painted, but this review is solely based on the room. Pleasant check-in staff. Would recommend. (Gym was also a nice bonus. Far nicer than a lot of places I've stayed.)

Location was great. hotel and rooms were nice and updated but everything looked dirty- elevators, bathrooms, walls. Check in was smooth but I was surprised to only receive 4 water park wrist bands for my family of 5. I still cannot find anything that mentions a limit on bands anywhere on any of the websites. Stayed at another hotel connected to the water park and they gave us 5 no problem. Breakfast was meh.
