Holiday Inn Houston SW - Sugar Land Area by IHG

Fair warning the hotel is far from modern and you can tell they are actively renovating. From broken shower knobs, popcorn ceiling that peeling, stain and damaged hotel furniture this wouldn’t be a great option for someone who likes a fresh clean look. They did not have any real accommodations at the moment and even ran out of towels which was another irritation. Positive: The staff was exceptional and really didn’t get too bothered when I complained they truly tried to find ways to accommodate and that was is an above average response to things they truly couldn’t control. For the price point and location you do get what you bargain for as far as hotel quality. But, the staff truly play a pivotal role in why I chose to stay versus leave. Note: No fridge and microwave need to be added to that other list of warnings because I did have to throw away some breakfast items I purchased since I knew there was no breakfast.

Staff is very cooperative… all 3 shifts they are awesome. Specially Mr. Khan and Miss Lola they are awesome. I am a very regular customer almost every week I came to stay the thing retained me is the staff behavior they are very friendly…. It’s more than 5 stars.

Hotel is under construction, so the restaurant, breakfast, and pool is closed. I knew this when booking. When we arrived there were only a handful of other cars there, and we had to stand at the desk for 10 minutes until anyone came out. The hallways were very hot, almost like the air was not working in the hallway. I think we were the only people staying there on day 2. The bathrooms were not that clean, and the shower head, and faucet in bathtub were very nasty, and not properly attached to the wall. I would not recommend staying here. This hotel did not seem like an IHG hotel to me, and I am disappointed that I booked a hotel like this with IHG. This atmosphere was not good here.

Stayed here for 4 nights - Dec 30 - Jan 3. Hotel was under major construction. Restaurants and all amenities were not available. Due to this the receptionist promised she will double the Welcome points for my stay. This was never credited to my account. Experienced an ant attack on the 2nd night. They were coming out of the heater system and into our luggages. The front staff suggests we change rooms since they do not have any pesticides available. I agreed. They said they will credit my account 5K points for the inconvenience. This was also never credited to my account. Called into the hotel to follow up only to receive false promises once again. Rooms were clean during our stay. However, shower pressure was very weak. Beware of big pot holes in the parking lot. Overall, we just needed a place to sleep and this hotel’s location was convenient. I was mostly annoyed of the false promises made. Being an avid traveller with IHG, I expected this hotel to hold a higher level of honesty. After construction, I am pretty sure it will be better.

Chose this HIE due to being closest to my next day event and the room rate. Learned when I arrived that it was under renovation and there was no breakfast. If I had thread the available information on the website I would have known. My assigned room had been updated and was clean. After showering and getting ready to go to bed, we discovered the air conditioning was not working. Called down to the front desk and the attendant quickly assigned us another room across the hall that was also clean and comfortable. Location is a bit difficult to access off the freeway. Would stay here again at this price if all I needed was a night’s sleep and no breakfast.

I stayed here 7 days with. Christmas Eve checkin. Big mistake. Although the website warns of property renovations, this was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The hotel offers NOTHING other than a bed, tv, and bathroom. My entire floor smelled of marijuana from the moment the elevator doors open. Safety was a big concern as I’m pretty sure I witnessed a drug deal and possibly prostitution occurring during my stay. I worried about the safety of my vehicle in the parking lot due to the area. Housekeeping was very sparse and not daily. One day there wasn’t any hot water for hours preventing me from taking a shower. I would never recommend this property to anyone. In fact, I recommend IHG selling it as it brings down brand reputation.

The room was as described. The front desk lady not so friendly, she could use some manners. At this moment they do not offer breakfast at this location anymore. Gym, pool and other amenities are off limits. Location I would've chose a better one.

They did not have my two city view rooms available even though I had reserved them for three nights well ahead of time and I had a confirmed reservation for them. So they stuck me on the side with the interstate highway, which is extremely loud if you’re trying to get any sleep. They were very unhelpful and did not work at all to resolve the situation, but told me I had to come back away from my meetings during the middle of the day to get it worked out. They also did not offer a refund on the difference in the prices of the two kinds of rooms. The hotel stuff was unprofessional and rude. Staying on the site with the interstate is extremely loud.
