NillI had a wonderful stay at the Karsten hotel. Alex (the owner) was a wonderful and gracious host. He told us the history of the hotel as well as giving us a tour of the hotel. There were only 6 of us staying at the hotel that night so we got to enjoy Alex most of the evening. If you want to stay at an historical hotel with a haunted history, then this is the place to stay. The hotel bar area is so beautiful and bedrooms are rich with lots of history. We selected this hotel because of its haunted history and went with an open mind. A few of us encountered sounds during our stay so we weren't disappointed. We all left with a feeling of having a new friend in our lives. We all plan to go back again.

NillMy husband and I had the chance to stay at the Karsten hotel in Kewaunee Wisconsin. The rooms were clean and fresh. Yes, this hotel is haunted. But nothing that would hurt you. They are simply reliving their lives on a different level than we are. The owner is a very friendly person. We were talking for hours about the history of the hotel, and ended the evening feeling we were old friends.

NillWe booked our 2 rooms on expedia.com cost $128 per room per night. Total $256. But was charged $370 on Aug 19 2024. I have made several calls to get this matter taken care, we 1st where told the owner's brother died & someone would get back to us, after 1 month , no refund. Called back again, told it would be taken care of in 2 weeks. After the 2nd month, I called again, they asked for our name, number & proof of our stay again. I gave them all the info. Also told them to check there records. It's been 6 months and still no refund, nothing has been done. I'm not sure why the owner is giving us the run around. The owner said that " it's not that much money & doesn't understand why we keep calling and asking for it" I have made over 20 calls , and talked to the same person over & over about this, each time we are told it will be taken care of, that the info was given to the owner. How long does it take to refund the over charges to our cc? I think 6 months is a bit too long. Still waiting. I just got off the phone with them was told we would be contacted back by noon, it's now 10am. After waiting over 6 months I feel like we should be refunded the total of $370.

★★★Very different hotel. It’s not like anything we stayed at before. |It’s a historic building with lots of cool decor. However along with the historic building also came a slight musty smell. |The hotel is locked and generally no one is at the desk so getting in and out is a challenge. | The owner who ran the desk was very confused as to how to work the computer to check us in. We had to help him find our reservation. He was a very nice man. |All wood floors creaked as we walked up the stairs to our room. |Room was clean but the zacuzzi tub was not exactly inviting. |The hotel is beautiful and would be a must see once but no more. |Went down at 7 am and no one was around for breakfast. Started the coffee pot myself. |Pricing was good.

NillWent out to find a fun relaxing good energy girls weekend and we found exactly what we wanted. Owner was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The hotel decor was the perfect setting for either spooky or comfort. The other guests in hotel were equally amazing. The lake access was perfect. Hot tub was amazing. Would stay again.

NillBeautiful old hotel with a great history. The lobby is super vintage and comfortable. There is a kitchen area is cool. I think they may only do Breakfast. Location is perfect for the beach and fishing. The rooms are very well decorated. I recommend the outer rooms as the inner ones are quite dark.

NillThis is a great old style hotel. This is not some modern Hilton or anything like that. The rooms were clean and well kept and speaking with the owner, he was very welcoming. Right by the lake and lighthouse as well. Also it's haunted!

NillThey say this building is haunted by a certain daughter or wife of a former owner. We did not see or hear her while we were there but according to a journal that you can see down on the first floor, plenty of ghost hunter and psychics have visited this place and concluded that she still stays in a certain third floor room. The jacuzzi bath was nice. Vote out over the lake was nice.
