NillGreat location at the end of the McCarthy road and the manager - tour organizer Chris was awesome to work with, however the accommodations were a bit bleak and the camp ground and lodge area were messy. There was trash piled up in the kitchen and other guests just piled up all their food items in the shared kitchen- it looked unkept. Be ready to rough it here- bathrooms are not in the cabins and the showers are shared. They worked good but it was kind of a pain. It’s basically camping because you have to bring in everything- nothing is provided. The overall site needs picking up- there are stray equipment here and there and it’s not very appealing for such a remarkable location. I kept thinking how quaint this place could be if they cleaned it up and did some landscaping….

NillLovely little cabins to stay on and watch the sunrise over the glacier. Gina and Nick are so lovely. Gave us great advice on our river trip. Beds were comfy. Hope to go back!

★★★★★A Gem! Kennicott River Lounge was a lifesaver because nice accommodations was the only way my wife would explore remote AK. So since I had to find the perfect spot to get her to return, KRL was a hit! Views were spectacular, all common areas were spotless and well managed, and staff was on point. We look forward to returning next year.

NillBooked the whole place out for a large group retreat-type event and the experience was unforgettable. The view is insane! The owner and manager took the vision of the retreat and worked with myself and the event planners to curate a gathering that was uniquely Alaskan and so fun and so easy. You can also book glacier hiking and whitewater rafting with them too which we did and I highly recommend. This place is perfect for large or small group events of any type.

★★We stayed at the Kennicot River Lodge after 4 days in the backcountry, arriving at the lodge about 6 or 7 pm. We never saw any staff, and learned about the location of the showers, bathroom, kitchen from another guest. I was surprised after reviewing their website that the cabins have no electricity or running water. Light was provided by a single gas-powered light fixture. Facilities for the cabins are a composting toilet in a nearby outhouse, which was fine but difficult to use without lighting in the middle of the night, and the showers and the kitchen were a walk of 50+ yards from our cabin.

★★★★★If you are looking for a true rafting outfitter, McCarthy River Tour & Outfitters is where it's at. ||||From arrival to the end of our rafting trip, the guides, Nik, and the entire town of McCarthy were extremely accommodating. ||||Kennicott River Lodge is beautiful, overlooking one of the largest glaciers, The Kennicott Glacier. We enjoyed drinks by the fire and great food from The Potato before embarking on our 4-day rafting trip. The Lodge is very clean, quaint, and a great place to meet other rafters heading out on the Copper River. The Main Lodge includes a big kitchen, a living area, and a large upstairs with porches. The individual cabins are perfect with bunk beds, a couch, and a loft overlooking the Glacier. These cabins do not have electricity, all powered by solar, but with the almost 24-hour sunlight, you don't need much light going to bed after relaxing by the fire. There are solar-guided lights to assist you in getting to your cabin. ||||Cannot wait to visit McCarthy again! Thank you to all of you for the amazing experience.

★★★★★We loved our stay at the Kennicott River Lodge. It was the perfect stopover before heading on a 4-day river trip with McCarthy River Tours & Outfitters. Half of our group stayed in a cabin and the other half stayed in the main lodge. Comfy lodging, warm showers, and a quaint shared kitchen space.||||The views were absolutely spectacular of the glacier & you just can't beat the community vibe! Everything is a short walk into town or you can pick up a shuttle just on the other side of the bridge to head to the Kennecott Mine.

★★★★★This was my second time staying at the Kennicott River Lodge, and it gets better each time. My family brought me to the valley, but the stellar accommodations, abundant amenities, and friendly and attentive staff were the reasons we returned to the KRL. ||Here we were at the edge of a glacier with a pristine view of the tallest icefall in the state! All of this, we viewed from our private deck outside our suite, located above the lodge. The rest of our party stayed in the cabins and enjoyed the same spectacular view from their front porches; it was awesome! ||The facility was clean and sanitized! During our stay, there was a town-wide wasp infestation that the KRL owners alleviated by applying a facility-wide wasp treatment. The owners' preparedness to deal with the wasp situation is the crucial detail here! This sort of situation is a natural occurrence in the wilderness, and their ability to resolve it quickly speaks loudly to their managerial skills and our having a delightful stay.||I highly recommend The Kennicott River Lodge to anyone that desires a rustic- comfortable yet action-packed trip; from the guided kayak tours and hiking the glacier to winding down in the sauna at night, you will have a wonderful time.||Lynne E
