Nill*edit* I told myself I'd edit my review when they made things good with reimbursing me for the urn. It took some time but they did take care of things on their end so I changed my rating. Due to the back-and-forth of getting this taken care of, I gave service a 3-star but bumped my overall to a 4-star. I would recommend Oakwood for a weekend getaway or for an event. The atmosphere was great. We had our wedding here back in September. It is a nice venue with a beautiful view. Our coordinator was great, too. The problem lies in that 2 of our tables collapsed during the reception, 1 had a pregnant friend at it and the other had my grandfathers urn, which shattered when it fell. They promised they would replace it/pay us for the cost of the urn. Here we are a month and a half after submitting an itemized bill and now they need it again and keep giving us a runaround. One of our guests also overheard the setup crew talking about how it is common for them have issues with tables due to the quick setups they do and lack of attention to detail. At this point I don't recommend them anymore because this is getting old and tiring

★★★★★My Husband and I just celebrated our 12 th Wedding Anniversary on 10/12 & my Husband’s Birthday on 10/14 at the Oakwood Resort. We were greeted at the front desk. Shanita unloaded our vehicle and brought our luggage to our room. She went above and beyond. We were then surprised by an amazing carrot cake taken care of by Alissa the Amazing General Manager. We then had an excellent Anniversary dinner that was cooked to perfection by Dane. Then Simone surprised us with a dessert to celebrate our Anniversary. Simone’s restaurant staff are awesome. We met several new guests while out in the lobby. Lauren took excellent care of us at Brew City. We enjoyed our breakfast and drinks in the lobby on the new Polywood furniture which is very comfortable and looks really nice. Went outside to enjoy the beautiful weather and met some more new guests. We had another very memorable stay at our home away from home.

NillBeautiful location, clean rooms, and friendly service. Rooms very nice. Beds comfortable. Restaurant in resort has excellent food! The bad: If you come in the spring time and it gets warm in your room you will not have air-conditioning at ALL! our room was pushing 75 at night and nothing we could do about it. Staff claims its on boiler system and won't turn buildings ac systems on until its really hot???

★★Positive: It was very clean Negative: Could not sleep. Too much light coming in from street lights through slats in the blinds. Pillows were too thick and not soft to the point I could not sleep. I asked for flatter pillow and they did not have any.Had to leave 6:15 no breakfast until 7:00

NillNo heat in the room. Checked into a freezing room so called front desk. They gave me 2 space heaters but couldn't leave them plugged in over night. Last night of my stay, lost power in the room so called the front desk. Kid working the front desk told me to come to the front desk so he can give me a new room. I went down to grab it and got greeted by a kid who to me looked like under the influence. He handed me a key and told me to pack my stuff up from the other room. I said i can before my check out next morning but at the moment its night time and room is too dark and there is no lights. He basically told me to go love my self, grabbed the keys and started getting mouthy and aggressive. Called the manager but all numbers go to voice mail. Got back to my room and spent another night with no heat or power. Leaving this comment from the room at 10.30am local time before my check out and even though i left a bunch of voice mails to the management, i have not been reached out. Do not recommend staying here.

NillDecided to make a last-minute reservation, and this place did not disappoint. My husband and I wanted to find a place to stay less than 2 hours away, where we typically don't travel often just to get away for a night. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back. Everything was clean, the staff was welcoming, and the rooms and grounds were beautiful. We took advantage of the restaurant in the hotel since we arrived later in the evening, and our dining experience was wonderful with a table out by the water. We want to share our new dound location, but kinda want to keep it a secret just for the two of us...lol I would highly recommend visiting!
