Wolf Lake Ranch is in the middle of the beautiful Manistee National Forest. The staff is outstanding. The staff and other guests become friends, some of them like family. We go back every year, a couple times a year, and have for 35 years. It is a great place for new and experienced riders and for people who don't even ride.

Outstanding experience for young and old! Great people and great horses! I started bringing my granddaughter here when she was 10 and we have come back every year and now she’s 17! We have met really nice folks on our stays. And every day 3 home cooked meals included! A little rustic in the accommodations, but the experience is priceless.

Rangers were amazing. The owner was extremely friendly. They helped us with anything we needed, and everyone was willing to go above & beyond to make sure it was a memorable experience for all of our people.

I loved this trip I am fortunate to have horses of my own at home and this experience was beautiful. I go every year and there horses, food and staff and let’s not forget the sight seeing and lake is an overall great experience! 😊 I love connecting with the staff and people as well! They are some of the most fun nicest people you will ever come across! They have amazing events every night. Including, a dance, a hay ride, rodeo(which all ages can compete in) and the kids love every second of every day there!! ❤️👍 I would most DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT! (Dog friendly too!) My grandma started taking me when I was 6 when I first started riding horses! And I am sooo grateful! Never a dull moment at Wolf Lake Ranch!!✨😁

Wolf Lake Ranch is unbelievable riding. Take it from a gal who lives within a short distance to the Cowboy Capital of the World in south central Texas, but travels to Michigan annually for the best horseback riding! ||The ranch is located on gorgeous property right alongside Wold Lake, Michigan. Take a break from riding to enjoy the lake - they have water toys, kayaks, etc to enjoy on the water. ||This ranch has trails through the Manistee National Forest. The soil is so sandy, the horses do not need shoes. You canter through woods that look enchanted. ||Marlena and Pete Libby have hosted families who return year after year, whose kids literally grow up at the ranch summer after summer.

My daughter and I attended the Wed-Saturday 3 day option. We had the best time. We were able to ride the day we arrived and the day we left. So, 6 rides for 3 night stay. Truly unheard of to get that much riding in. Excellent walk, trot, and canter options; depending on skill. Best canter trail rides I've ever done. The ranch has rustic cabins, but they are clean. My only suggestion would be more nightstands and maybe a couple more chairs. The lake is a really great option for your breaks between rides. The owner, Pete, does an amazing job keeping everyone happy and pairs horses to riders exceptionally well. I've lived in Michigan my whole life, and wish I'd found this place years ago. Lastly, was a great option in this COVID situation, as every activity and meal was outdoors!

We just got back from our weekend at Wolf Lake Ranch. We had the best time ever. We already rebooked for next year. The same people have been coming back to this wonderful hidden gem for 10, 20 years. The staff are out standing, food great and of course the number 1 reason to come is for the riding. Being with people who love to ride as much as I do was just fantastic. The trail rides were either a leisurely walk or an all out center through the beautiful woods. Check out their video. This place is AMAZING! My family of 5 went for the first time for a 3 day this past week and the only negative is IT WASN'T LONG ENOUGH. We are going back next year for sure for longer. I felt like I was home the entire time. The rooms are comfortable rustic cabins, so don't expect turn down service and a luxury spa, that is not the kind of place they are going for nor do they need to. The staff and owners were just so fantastic and really care to make sure guests have a great time. I am a picky eater and the food was fantastic, I had not one complaint. My kids (twin 12 year olds and 9 year old) always went for seconds and we had to hold them back from taking thirds. The riding could not be better. The trails are amazing and the horses are not your typical lazy trail horses, they actually move and are beautiful and very well kept and loved. There is lots of time to relax and still plenty of organized activities. The other guests were fantastic, everyone so friendly many who have been returning for 20+ years. We were told that people either love it or it isn't for them, but man oh man, now that I've found it I'll be one of the regulars! Thank you Wolf Lake Ranch for an unforgettable experience that I can't wait to experience again and again!
