NillWe spent the weekend there, the condo was a 1 bedroom with 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen and a main room that looks out to the beach. The main room had a hide a bed. The condo was clean, and they had you put your shoes in one location, and you would be shoeless while in the house. The main bedroom was facing the parking lot. The only real complaint was that the bedroom mattress needed to be replaced.

NillGreat location, nice staff. Horribly outdated rooms old beds. Thin walls and “residents” with large dogs that bark all night. Worst night sleep ever.

★★★★First, keep in mind that each unit has different owners. So you can't judge one based on another. This review is specific to unit #210 at Neskowin Resort. Also, it appeared these units can be rented through multiple different websites. I chose not to use VRBO for example, and instead rented directly through the Grey Fox vacation site. I had zero issues with the booking and was pleased with communication. ||I'll start with the positives:|The apartment was beautifully cozy and very clean! I loved the decor and furnishings that gave the atmosphere of a "restful getaway". The window seat overlooking Proposal Rock was my favorite place to sit! The blinds on the living room windows and door were very helpful. I appreciated that there was a heater with controls in both the bedroom and living room. I also much appreciated that in the bedroom there were super heavy thick drapes on the window that is on the front by the stars, so no worries there! The private balcony was nice, although the chairs aren't very comfortable. The kitchen was the perfect size and had plenty of supplies. You can't beat the view! Overall, I loved the whole apartment!!||Now for the negatives:|I had a few issues with the front door that, in my opinion, need to be a priority to fix since they are safety issues for the guests. (Especially since I was a woman traveling alone.) First, there is no peephole, which should be a standard for any rental. I noticed other units did have them. Next, there was no deadbolt lock or ANY secondary lock. There was only the little button lock on the doorknob which was very hard to work. It doesn't turn easily and did not feel secure. I think the whole doorknob needs to be replaced because it was equally difficult to get the key to work getting in. On that note, on top of the key not working smoothly in the lock, there is NO light in the very tiny hallway. It took several minutes each time trying to get in (longer when it was dark), during which time my back was literally up against the neighbor's door. The hallway is so tiny, the doors are at an almost 45 degree angle from each other so the doorknobs are less than a foot apart. Expect to get fairly cozy with your neighbor if you both happen to be entering or exiting at the same time. I was very glad that no one was renting the unit next to me during my stay.||Again, overall, I still definitely recommend this unit! If the owners fix some of the safety issues with the door, I would definitely feel comfortable staying there again alone.

NillThe rooms are quirky and diverse; some are dog friendly, some have stoves, some have a full fridge, some have mini fridges, some have low beds, some have high beds that short people and people with bad knees struggle to get into. But they’re all clean and they all have patios or balconies facing Proposal Rock. And there’s a private ramp across the creek to the beach, and it’s all well-maintained.

★Re: Unit 212 at Neskowin Resort —BEWARE!|I have visited Neskowin Resort off and on for decades, always enjoying my time there. It has always been my favorite resort in Oregon because the view is glorious. The units are owned by different individuals, who rent them out through Grey Fox and others. This year things were extremely disappointing. We called and asked Grey Fox for a 2nd floor rental in April, well in advance. The prices were increased but we hadn’t been to Neskowin for the three COVID years, so we took it, and saved up our money to celebrate my 75th birthday. We asked for a nice place and were reassured by Grey Fox that we were getting that. ||We were given #212. When we got here and opened our room we were appalled. Although the bathrooms and appliance surfaces seemed clean, overall the place is filthy, with dog smears and grime on windows and blinds, and in all crevices. The walls are grimy. Windows are crusted. There was food or something on the couches, dog smears on windows leading to the deck. The (only TWO) kitchen pots were coated with burned-on food, and the Teflon frying pans are scratched and warped. Dishes were an unmatched and sloppily stacked mix of old Goodwill junk. The knives don’t cut. The one closet is crammed completely full of blankets that renters are warned “not to use”, so we had only the hall hooks and one very small drawer to put clothes away. The deck furniture is old and so dirty I could not scrub it clean. The place smells very musty and the blinds are broken as well as filthy. The TV is impossible to work. It was all VERY bad||I know different owners at Neskowin Resort update their units (or not) at different times. But no one told us our rooms would be so inferior when we reserved, and yet we paid the same amount as folks who were given updated and well-stocked rooms. Finally, one of the swivel dining chairs is very loose and rocks dangerously. I almost fell getting out of the chair more than once. It needs to be fixed as it is dangerous| ||When we booked in April NO ONE at Grey Fox warned us that our reserved unit was so rundown. When I went into the Office to let the staff know the situation I was told that Grey Fox has “no control” over the condition of the units and that since they were “fully booked” we just had to accept it. The lady listened, but took no information down, and offered no explanations nor offered any changes regarding the unacceptable condition of #212. Well, since Grey Fox is the manager, charged with ensuring renters get what we pay for (and what we were TOLD would be included) it seems reasonable that they will require owners to meet good standards of quality and cleanliness. Or maybe refuse to rent out substandard units, if only to preserve their reputation. Friends of ours stayed in 203 and 204, and those rooms were clean and updated and charming. I paid the same money and expect the same quality. But I didn’t get it. And that’s on Grey Fox, the agency we paid. |Mostly I am very disappointed that Grey Fox just assigned us a low-quality unit without warning us, and offered no assistance or recompense when told about it. We were brushed off. |We saved up our money for this vacation and drove from northern Washington. It was a big deal. I am hoping Grey Fox will take action to improve things, and next time someone asks for a “nice unit” they are given one — or at least given the truth so folks|can go elsewhere. ||

NillStayed in room 304 two nights on a weekend. Really good view, nice bed, kitchenette, balcony. Short walk to the beach, which is great for a long walk near low tide. Near a restaurant and a shop with a deli.
