Roomys Nest Ashtamudi Homes

Roomy's Nest is one of the most memorable places I have stayed and was a highlight of a month's travel in South India. Nizar, Salina and their family gave me the warmest of welcomes to their unique home. They have returned to their village after, in Nazir's case, 25 years working in Saudi Arabia. ||Nazir delights in sharing his passion for his home - and its native plants, animals and birdlife - with you. The name Roomy's Nest is reference to the fact the mud brick rooms have been built into the side of a kingfisher nest, auspicious as it is the totem bird of India. ||The location is tranquil and restorative. Ashtamudi Lake is amazing in scale, with eight tributaries leading into a beautiful lakeside setting, fringed with sleepy fishing villages. This place suits people looking for a quiet break away from the hustle of the tourist track. It's suited to solo travellers, couples and families - this is definitely not a party town, with lights out around 9pm!||Salina's cooking is mouth watering. Drawing on the spicy Kerala style and local produce including sea and river fish and shellfish (the prawns are especially delicious) as well as bananas, jackfruit, cardamon and cashews, amongst other crops, grown on their land. Her's was some of the best food I enjoyed in South India.||Don't pass this place by. You will regret it!

Nazirs accommodation is wonderful for all types with amazing wildlife everywhere. The rooms are of a high standard. The food is world class with Mrs Selena the master chef and doctor cooks up a storm literally every meal. The puttu is the best in Kerala. The Nest is a wee gem. ☺☺

Me and four friends stayed for two days at roomys nest in Kollam. Clean rooms, great welcoming hosts and last but not least the best food I have eaten in India. They also arrange boattrips which are a lovely way to explore the surrounding waters. I truly recommend this place for both backpackers and family's alike.

Nice and safe place to take rest and to have BEST AND EXCELLENT FOOD (even u cant avail in star hotels). thanks to Mr Nizar and his wife.. ||we four families took all rooms and stayed for two days ...one of the memorable trip in the life...planning again to visits Roomys nest with friends (especially for food)

We just stayed one night in this nice place in the midst of nature. Wonderful bird- sighting possible. Food was delicious and chats with host and his family delightful. We took a 3 h houseboat ride to the backwaters, had a lot of fun playing captains of the boat.

Visited this Home stay in last year 2015 with family.The location was really beautiful and Relaxing.It was nice and Pleasant experience.Good Restaurant .The chef made special dishes at our request.staff really lovely and helpful.House Boat available.All facilities were excellent. we enjoyed our stay. Awesom price. iam so happy that i stayed in this beautiful resort.

Visited Roomys Nest in December. Wanted to isolate myself from the city. This place and service provided by Mr Nizar was Excellent. ||>>Excellent Location||>>Friendly People||Recommended for anyone who wants to Relax and enjoy Nature and Serene Lake.||Dont Miss it.
