The Alpine Guest House, Kasol

We stayed here for two nights. The rooms are very spacious with a great view. The sound of the water flowing 24/7 is soothing. The onsite café is a bit costly, but the food quality justifies the price. It also offers the best view in Kasol, right by the river.

This was my second visit to Alpine. The last time was way back in 2013. I had rated it 5 stars at that time and I will do it again for the stay this time. The hotel has only improved in its cleanliness, comfort and appearance. The room was very comfortable and the bed and the mattress was perfect. It was an amazing feeling to lie down and sleep on the bed after day of trekking. The bathroom too was perfect and Alpine was one of the place where I found hot shower which is so rare to find even at the best of places. Since it is Kasol you dont really need food and beverages at the place where you are staying but some people might find it bothersome that the food and drinks served by Off Limit cafe is not upto the mark. Infact the deck of the hotel is mostly occupied by visitors of the cafe and so it is difficult to find a place to sit for those who are actually staying at Alpine. Thankfully I had a big window facing the river and didnt really need to use the deck.|But overall a wonderful satisfying place.

Reached the property at 10 pm due to bad road from Bhuntar to kasol . At reception during Check in that I will come back with IDs in 10-15 mins . In next 2-3 minutes as soon as we put our Luggae in , a person ( receptionist ) came to my room though a knock was there and 2-3 person entered in my room and start asking about my IDs . One of them started scratching his crotch though I was with my wife and with a friend . When I asked him to wait at reception and I will come there in 5-10 min with my IDs he started arguwmntijg that either I should give him IDs then and there or leave the hotel . Being approx 10:30 pm in night we couldn’t get out from there for other hotel and later I find out that he was heavily drunk . After all next 1 hr argument of not entering in a room in drunken state in a room where a lady was staying I gave him my ID because I didn’t wanted to ruin my night sleep . In morning when I told this story to their manager he told that he can’t believe my version of story . ||||My fault was that I didn’t rea online reviews of that place and went there . So guys red reviews before staying at any place and believe it because as traveller we don’t have any personal grudges against anyone . ||||In particular , dokt go there . They will make you feel that they are obliging you to staying there thought apart from 1-2 room , entire guest house wa empty . ||||Pls don’t go there if you care about safety .

View from this cafe is nice. Food is good. River view cafe. Seats are good. Ambience is nice. But, service is an issue in terms of appropriate delivery (like they gave me food without spoons and fork; and once i reminded them they got it. And same thing happened twice or thrice in one meal). Taste of food is good, but it does have room for improvement. If they do good service and improve taste further, i may give them 4 or even 5.
