I highly recommend Saji's hostel, cheap, cozy, quiet, right by the water. Including a super delicious dinner🍚 (which his talented mother prepares:) and conversations until the night, if you only want:) Saji is so friendly , curious and helpful! Saji was very hurt by the corona and now is very excited to return to work, with a lot of good energy, happiness and excitement to receive you in the best way. Thank you Saji! We spent about 6 nights at this guesthouse. The host Saji looked after us really well. His mother cooked dinner for us every night as part of the room price. We enjoyed spending our evenings with Saji and eating his mum's delicious dinners. It was a very friendly atmosphere and there was free water which helped us reduce our plastic waste.

Amazing stay here. Great value with dinner included where we can all socialise, listen to music and hear Saji incredible beat boxing and hilarious impersonations. Saji organised the most incredible canoe trip which was so peaceful and beautiful. No engine going down the narrow backwaters kingfishers flying all around and feeling the real life of the place. Our breakfast and lunch (amazing thali on the traditional banana leaf in a friends home) was all included. It was presented so beautifully. ||Really recommend to stay here, feels very homely.

We had a fantastic time staying here. We really enjoyed hanging out with Saji and the other guests, it felt really homely. The free dinner is super and makes it a very social place. Saji was really helpful and friendly. We went on the canoe backwater tour he organised which was great fun abd beautiful. We spotted lots of birds from the homestay window too! Probably the best value place we stayed in India. Thanks Saji!

An absolute gem In Alleppey! Saji is genuinely the loveliest man I have met in India. He makes you feel at home and is so kind. The free dinner included which he brings back cooked by his mum is an added bonus. We had the best stay & would definitely recommend this place! He also has optional trips on offer at a great cost both canoe and houseboat. He isn’t one of those people who pushes to sell or puts pressure on you. He will simply provide information if requested and book if this is something you would like. We did the canoe day trip which was well worth the money. We loved it so much we extended our stay here!

Saji found us at the bus station I usually avoid taking the first place I'm offered but he had such a lovely face we decided to stay with him. The guest house is super cheap it's clean and the atmosphere is amazing there's free tea and coffee and a little fridge and kitchen you can use .. although his mum makes incredible food every night which is included in the price! So you don't need to use the kitchen. He is probably the nicest person I met in India, he's so helpful and genuine and funny, he sits and plays music with you or plays a card game in the evening ..we had the best time here and would have extended our stay if we didn't have to fly home! We did the day canoe tour which I can't recommend enough you get to see the proper backwaters and eat delicious home cooked food with locals.

Location: close to the bus stop and ferry. Nice quiet area next to the fish farm. Host: The owner is very open, nice and welcoming person. Tries to make you feel like at home. Brings his mom's cooking for the dinner; is really interested in other cultures. He offers really worthy canal sightseeing tours. Interior used to be very nice, BUT Cleanliness: the house is very dirty. dust is everywhere. the owner obviously does not clean either floors, bathroom (washbasin, toilet, shower) or shelves and other furniture. He obviously does not change the bed sheets( The roof in some rooms is leaking. The room on the left from the entrance stinks -both from clogged drain in the bathroom and from plastic sidings of the room which get to muck heat during the day and by the evening you have this "marvelous" combination of unpleasant smell. Hope the owner will finally clean the place and change the house into a nice place it obviously used to be!

The included dinner was a bonus. Tasty and home cooked by Saji's mother.||||Room was basic - water was hot (but only a small water heater, so not for a long shower).||||Drinking water was available in a more environmentally friendly 50 litre bottle. Tea and coffee available, too.||||Internet was available in room and in common areas.||||Price was cheap cheap.||||Location next to a fish farm was quiet - no street noise.||||Saji was very amicable and pleasant to spend time with.||||His recommended houseboat was a delightful and perfect experience. Price was on par with town asking prices, but going through him we felt extra re-assured that things would work well, and they did. Also, it meant we didn't have to deal with the town touts.
