Khaya Gaze - Medicinal Plantation Guest House

We stayed at this guest house because of its proximity to the elephant junction, where we took an elephant safari. It's surrounded by beautiful tropical forest, where the singing of numerous birds will make you a company. Upon arrival, Mrs. Shiji hosted us with traditional Kerala home made cousin which was absolutely delicious. Experiencing Mrs. Shiji's cooking is a must.

As the reviews and pictures posted we were flattered. Booked via AirBnb. Initially paid. So nothing can't be done. As this stay mentioned no garden and no hill view. Few medicinal plants are there. Rooms if maintained properly it will be good. Two nights we experienced power failure. They said it's due to heavy rain and the location of the stay. But they have no generator or solar system for back up. We went to enjoy the rainy season. But no gas cylinder for cooking. No Geaser in bathroom. No waste management for bathrooms. Not at all satisfied with amenities. No refrigerator. Main issue was the locking of the door. Their front gate entrance is difficult for the vehicles to climb up if ground clearance is low. Even our elevate couldn't park since the cutting edge is too high from the road. They have arranged outside sitting areas which is good. But outdoor washing area has no proper lights. Not well maintained. They promise no snakes. But it was a jungle of grass in their car parking area. Wifi obviously wasn't working as there was no power. Totally irritating. No more museum. Its converted to rooms.

Khaya Gaze - Medicinal Plantation Guest House is a peaceful and calm getaway, surrounded by medicinal plants. The rooms are clean, and the guest house has lovely sit-out areas with a cozy, compact campfire spot. The hosts are friendly and welcoming, making the stay even better. It's a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature.

Amazing place to stay with a beautiful forest view. The place has such good vibes and it feels as if you are on an adventure in a jungle. We got to see so many medicinal plants there that we didn't even know existed. The owner is a true gentleman and made our stay very comfortable. He helped us book tickets for elephant ride, cultural events, get food at odd hours in the night, showed us around the city and recommended good handicrafts shop to buy some authentic crafts. Absolutely loved staying here and would definitely come back again and recommend it to friends and family.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful guest house and I can't say enough good things about it. The rooms were not only comfortable but also impeccably clean, making our stay incredibly enjoyable. The spacious sit-out area was a delightful spot to unwind and soak in the natural beauty that surrounded us. What truly sets this place apart is the remarkable plantation of medicinal plants. It was like a garden of healing right outside our door, and we learned so much about the various herbs and plants from Alwin, who is a true expert. The experience was both educational and refreshing. But the cherry on top of this delightful experience was Alwin himself. His hospitality and willingness to assist us in every possible way were truly heartwarming. He went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, whether it was providing local tips or ensuring our needs were met. I can't recommend this guest house enough. It's a hidden gem, a perfect blend of comfort, natural beauty, and exceptional hospitality. If you're looking for a tranquil getaway with a touch of wellness, this place is a must-visit.

It's a lovely place to stay .... The hosts are friendly and helpful... The property is cozy... well maintained and beautiful... feels like staying inside a mini jungle full of nature and it instantly makes you feel healthy 🌱

There are several reasons behind making our stay excellent there. Two of those are: 1. Very peaceful location. Well managed property with greenery throughout the area. 2. Most importantly, the caretaker George and his wife are wonderful hosts. They are very friendly and always there to help us with different things, be it jeep safari arrangement or arranging the vegetarian food. On the last day, George and his wife cooked dosa for us which we loved very much. I will definitely recommend anyone visiting to Thekkady to stay at khaya gaze. Hope I will get a chance again to visit to the place.

Words are not enough for me to write everything about the wonderful people I met through Khaya Gaze (Alvin George and his wife Shiji) but I will try to summarise. Location - this is right in front of the most crucial destination in thekaddy (Elephant Junction) ; also it is very near to Periyar boating entry points where you get the ticket. Also for spices rather than buying in Kochi or somewhere else buy it Thekaddy and trust me Alvin George will help you with that too People- For me Kerala trip means Alvin George and his beautiful family who will always be in my heart and will always be my beloved ones from Kerala in my memories. Alvin and his wife Shiji are the nicest people I met in Kerala and they will help you guide you and will go miles to make you feel that you are not away from your home. Alvin is so knowledgeable person I found such a good friend in him and so glad that our vibes gel around so naturally like brothers. Shiji is is one of the best cooks you will find . My wife is very choosy regarding food but she loved the fish curry and fish fries and I liked my veg kerala dinner. Thank you so much Shiji for the same Trust me if you are sensitive enough you will feel like a family with them which me and my wife felt with them. Whether it was taxi or whether it was stay or whether it was our memories with them 1000 cheers to Alvin and Shiji . Please just go and Alvin will help you out with all your plans and moments in Kerala trip I can write so much more but everything at khaya gaze is about experience and I am so glad I found this hidden gem of stay and people (my friends Alvin and Shiji ) Thank you so much and yes this will always be my stay when I come to Kerala and Thekaddy . ❤️😇🙏🏻
