NillI stayed at River View for a month, and it was just amazing. The stunning mountain views from the balcony is mind blowing. The place has such a peaceful vibe, perfect for long stays. The rooms are clean and cozy, and the hosts are super welcoming, the food taste is very Homely and WOW. Waking up to misty mountain mornings every day felt like therapy. Highly recommended if you're looking for a quiet, homely place surrounded by nature. Useful Tip: grab all your things before you reach and just chill sitting in the balcony.

NillI’ve been staying here for the last 1 month and to be honest, everyday feels fresh to me. As a person traveling from country to country, this place actually felt like home to me. The family is very warm and was always there to assist me. They help me with my studies and cooking. My room is not just a room but my comfort space. The view from my room is breathtaking. My morning starts with a cup of tea while looking towards the majestic mountains of the Dhauladhar range. And my day ends with stargazing across the same mountains. When it comes to service, comfort of the guest is their top priority. Since day one of my stay, there was not a single moment where I felt I was living away from my home. My day is incomplete without tasting Aunty’s food and her special chai.

NillWe stayed for a couple of days at this amazing homestay. The host family is super sweet and the food they make is fantastic! The rooms look out into the mountain, and from the terrace there is a great view on the mountain and to the valley. It's located close to local amenities, but in a very quiet place, so we slept well during the nights. Would highly recommend, and especially at that price, the value for money is fantastic! If we come back to this area we'll stay here for sure :)

NillWe stayed for a month and enjoyed every moment of our stay there. First of all,the view was super and enticing which made us sit in the balcony viewing the snow capped mountains for hours on end. We greatly appreciate and relished food prepared by Kamala and her daughters who catered our specific needs for two senior citizens. Joytika was particularly helpful in providing us with helpful information regarding places to visit and arranging a helpful driver Deepak. The rooms are cleaned and well carpeted. The heating arrangements are provided. Anything we need they are ready to provide with smiling face. We came as guests and left as members of the family. I will certainly visit again and encourage others to stay there and enjoy their caring hospitality. Our blessings and best wishes to the whole family

NillIt’s a great Homestay. They are so welcoming that you soon feel at home. I planned to stay 2 nights and stayed for 6. Good location, good service, good food, great views and good value. What more could you ask for?

NillUnfortunately I had a very negative experience here. I don't normally post negative reviews as I like to help everyone on their business path but how this turned out, I had no choice. After the first night, myself and my wife didn't sleep due to the uncomfortable bed and dogs barking all throughout the night. And when I say barking, I'm not talking about sounds in the distance but rather multiple dogs, aggressively, for hours on end right outside the property. I informed the owner that we would like to cancel our reservation and leave but she said we could not due to it being booked through a third party. She said she would make it more come for us. So thinking that her and her family were kind and nice I gave them the benefit of the doubt and said ok. I also at this stage did not mention the dogs as I was hoping it was a one off occasion and that with a more comfortable sleeping situation it would all be ok. After another two nights of getting no sleep, we decided to leave. It was literally impossible to sleep and is the most frustrating thing in the world when all you want to do is sleep but cannot. I told the owner we'd check out. I contacted Goibo (who I'd booked through) to request a refund for the remaining nights we were not there, as again as per my first request to cancel with the owner, she said it had nothing to do with them and I had to contact Goibo. Now just to be clear, this situation in Europe would warrant a full refund, however here I was not asking for that, just simply for the remaining nights we would not be there and then I'd pay for the nights we stayed (which is more than fair). I then found out through Goibo that the owner is refusing the partial refund and taking no responsibility for our discomfort. I spoke to the owner via WhatsApp - messages I have but don't feel petty enough to post on the internet - about this, to which she said the dogs are not theirs so it's not their responsibility. Normally this would be understandable however let's be clear - there is no separation from their house/accomodation to the neighbouring houses and dogs. Therefore when I say multiple dogs barking, they were quite literally 10 metres from my bed. You can see the property photos. There you'll see the pavement right outside the perimeter of the house - this is where the dogs were. In this WhatsApp messaging conversation, which I felt like I was having with a child, I finally stopped replying because she said 'when you were leaving your wife was loving to the dogs so it seems there is no problem with dogs'.... It's not about the money, it's about principle and ethics and here I'm being cheated. It's not ok. If someone comes to my restaurant and there's rats outside and they get sick from my food,.I can't say 'the rats belong to the neighbour'... You offer a service and if it's poor enough that people can't sleep and are forced to move then it is your responsibility. And again, bare in mind, in most situations any hotel or guest house would offer full refund, I was requesting partial which is more than fair on my behalf. As someone who's been coming to India for 10 years, this is the worst experience I've had.

NillIn summary, River View is where the Mountains Become Home There are places you visit, and then there are places that visit you - entering your soul so completely that leaving becomes unthinkable. River View is the latter. This homestay isn't just accommodation; it's where restless souls find peace. I arrived in January, escaping metropolitan hustle for a brief mountain respite. What was meant to be short has become indefinite. The magic isn't just the breathtaking vistas but how seamlessly you become part of its story. The family treats you as a long-lost relative, their warmth melting January snow, creating an atmosphere where life's complications dissolve against towering peaks. The rooms offer all comforts: comfortable beds, hot water, and clean spaces that feel lived-in rather than sterile. The crown jewel is the private balcony—watching sunrise turn snow-capped peaks from silver to gold has become a sacred daily ritual. For cricket lovers, River View offers a direct view of Dharamshala Cricket Stadium. Evening stadium lights create a peaceful spectacle while enjoying chai, connecting you to the valley below. The Himachali cuisine isn't just food - it's heritage on a plate at River View. Fresh ingredients and traditional recipes create nourishing meals. My obsession with Siddu (stuffed steamed bread) connects me to local traditions with every bite. A five-minute uphill trek leads to Mcleodganj's cafés (don’t be lazy to walk on stairs). River View sits at the "golden distance" from everything—Bhagsu Waterfall, Triund Trail, Guna Devi Temple for trekking, and Indru Nag for paragliding. What makes it special is returning to what feels like home - muddy boots by the door, adventure stories over dinner. Don't miss Titu, the resident rabbit and mountain celebrity. Terrace afternoons with this fluffy companion offer therapy expensive retreats only promise. If the mountains are calling, let River View be where you answer.
