People come to hills for peace and serenity…. And This Homestay serves as a perfect base camp for it. The host is very welcoming, friendly and understanding. The food is homely and healthy. It’s budget-friendly and most importantly, the view from the windows and balconies is beautiful. I loved my stay here and would definitely come back here.

My stay at [Goonj homestay] was absolutely wonderful! The location was perfect, nestled in a quiet area but still very close to the town center. The room was beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable, and the hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The food was delicious. I would highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable stay.

I had the worst homestay experience at this property, and I strongly advise others to avoid it. 1. Security & Trust Issues The owners of this homestay are completely untrustworthy. During my stay, valuable items worth ₹4 lakhs were stolen from my room. As I was the only guest at the property at that time, it became evident who was responsible. When I confronted them, they became aggressive, called in their workers from nearby properties, and attempted to intimidate me. This experience left me feeling unsafe and completely violated. 2. Poor Room Conditions & Cleanliness The rooms were filthy, covered in dust, and had clearly not been cleaned before check-in. The bedsheets had stains, cigarette burns, and were in terrible condition. Initially, they denied the issue, but after insisting, they asked me to wait outside while they changed them, which took more than an hour. The entire property, especially the ground floor, was covered in dog hair and dust, making it impossible to sit comfortably without getting covered in dirt. 3. Unhygienic Kitchen & Food Quality The kitchen was infested with rats. The food was stale and of poor quality. They simply reheated meals that were 2–3 days old and served them. 4. Lack of Basic Facilities There was no heating in the rooms unless you paid an extra ₹500 per night, which was not mentioned beforehand. Water and electricity were frequently unavailable. After a long 12-hour drive, I arrived at the property only to find that I couldn’t even freshen up. The bathroom was in a terrible state—broken taps, non-functional showers, and a faulty flush made it nearly unusable. Overall Experience This homestay completely ruined my New Year's experience. I had to leave and shift to another property to salvage my trip. While the view from the homestay was good, that is the only positive aspect. Honestly, staying in a tent would have been a better option than dealing with the unhygienic conditions and the unprofessional behaviour of the owners ( Both husband and wife are thief ) To make matters worse, after everything that happened, the owner even had the audacity to ask me for a positive review. I now believe that the existing positive reviews are manipulated, written by friends and relatives rather than real guests. This was my worst experience in Manali, and I strongly DO NOT recommend this property to anyone—especially those who prioritize safety, hygiene, and hospitality. To the so called PR guy of the thieves that run the so called homestay Thank you for your textbook copy-paste damage control response. It’s almost cute how you’re trying to spin this into a case of “false accusations” when what you should be addressing is the fact that your property is an embarrassment and a health hazard. Asking for a police complaint number is a clever little diversion. Sadly, it doesn’t change the fact that your establishment runs on deception, poor hygiene, and a stunning lack of basic decency. You can polish a turd, but it’s still a turd — much like your property, no matter how many half-baked apologies you write. Your claim about changing the bedsheets immediately? Congratulations. That’s the bare minimum any half-functioning human would do after being called out for filth. Expecting applause for it is laughable. Your talk of “welcoming environment” would be hilarious if it weren’t so tragic. Rats in the kitchen, dirt-caked floors, and stale food hardly qualify as hospitality — unless you’re catering to cockroaches. As for your “reputation”, let’s not pretend it was pristine before my review. Anyone with eyes can see through the fake 5-star reviews written by your friends, relatives, and desperate well-wishers trying to salvage a sinking ship. In closing, you’re not a victim here. You’re just a third-rate host running a fourth-rate property. If you spent half as much time fixing your business as you do writing defensive responses, maybe you wouldn’t have to beg guests for good reviews. Regards, A guest with standards you’ll never meet
