Taara House

We had booked a 7 night stay at Taara House. It is a beautiful villa with a fabulous location and view. Instantly connected the villa like our own home. Suraj ji, the chef is very well mannered and helpful. He treated us to delicious home cooked food. Breakfast in the beautiful garden with lovely flowers around and a view of the snowcapped hills was soulful. Everything about the place was bang on! A beautiful stay which will be etched in our memories always.

I am not someone who has the time to write such a long review but I found this to be necessary. This place is highly overrated, making me doubt the genuineness of other comments. The views are spectacular, and the lady who services the place is excellent. However, their bathrooms need renovation. The showers don't work properly, and the mattresses and pillows on the beds are pathetic. For a property that positions itself as premium, the bedding seems to be from the '90s and is in dire need of an upgrade. Even the bed linen and towels have outlived their lifespan. The cook, where do I start? I was on vacation and skipped breakfast 3 out of 5 days because he doesn't know how to make a basic cheese omelette!!? Instead, I got cheese stuffed in thick, dry bread that was merely tossed on the tawa along with eggs overloaded with red chili powder, without even the addition of basic onions or coriander. His communication skills are lacking; he doesn't know the names of the dishes he claims he can prepare, repeating, “I can cook anything you ask for,” only to serve nearly inedible food. The chili chicken we asked for first evening was as hard as a rock. The paneer butter masala tasted only of tangy tomatoes. The jeera aloo and aloo gobi on different evenings had identical flavors, both dishes being below average. Dessert options were nonexistent, leading us to buy gulab jamun from the market. The only dish our cook prepared well was aloo ka paratha; even his plain parathas felt like they were made of rubber, and his rotis were like papad. I've stayed at several Airbnbs in Himachal and found very well-trained cooks managing the food arrangements. In fact, many premium Airbnbs in Himachal offer a variety of starters, barbecue, great breakfast options, and at least 2-3 cuisines for lunch/dinner. Our food experiences at Taara House were so disappointing that even with a breakfast and dinner inclusive package, we mostly ate outside, got packed food from the mall road, and requested aloo parathas for two nights in a row because they were the only reliable option. The only positives about this property were the view, the spacious area, and the great deal we got since it was Holi week. We didn't complain much to the caretakers as most of these challenges were beyond their control and we had no-one else from management coordinating our stay. The challenges with this property clearly stem from a business-minded, cost-saving, and profit-increasing mentality.

Taara House was on our check list for quite sometime. We decided to celebrate our 7th Anniversary here and totally loved the decision. The place is much beautiful than it reflects in the picture. Perfect place to unwind from the day to day city life. Most of our time was spent in the glass house reading books, drinking wine & coffee and admiring the views while doing nothing. The care taker Pawanji took really good care of us. Forgot to mention the best part, both of us being dog lovers we had a great time with the three in house trained and obedient dogs. Will make sure to visit again .

A perfect place for visiting in winters. If you're planning to go for a chill trip proly the best place. The house is on a bit height giving a really good view. Can totally consider it as the best vacation spot especially in winters. For winters it has required heaters around the house keeping you warm and giving you all the comfort. It's really good for this rate and totally worth it. They also provide food service which is no doubt too good. They've all the required amenities and a really good service.

With a Pine Forest as background and the spectacular Himalayas as foreground, Taara House is a labor of love and done completely by the family. Nestled on a 6600 feet hilltop, the cottage is just 3km away from the city centre and 1/2km from the iconic Hadimba Temple. Done up in classic and mid-modern style, the two bedroom cottage is made of reclaimed/recycled wood and the piece de resistance is the glass house for dining under the stars or even indulging in some sunbathing! Design connoisseurs will also appreciate the use of Burma Teak, English Oak, and Pine. The bedrooms are spacious and stylish. Highlights include; Scandinavian light fixtures, customized furniture by ANTHOLOGIE DESIGN and fine art collection.

The views of the property were great and as advertised but the heating systems were not working. There was a lack of response from the owners and the caretakers of the property which made us cut our trip short and leave. I would recommend other cottages in Manali as this one surely has faults but no resolutions.

Poor spirit to bully Tara House, Bir because of their name. No one is going to be confused about the two. Taara is not Tara, you should consider removing your review from their page 🙏 BTW, Tara was the name of their dog. Also goddess Tara of Tibetan Buddhism.
