The Marizane Homestay

I chose this facility after finding it rated 4+ stars with 40+ ratings and reviews. Felt assured. But upon reaching, found it very unpleasant. I had to wait 45 minutes after reaching to get a room. There wasn't even a bench or chairs to sit and wait. After about 20 minutes someone showed up and let me wait in a room, which was stinking. The toilet comode had faeces floating in it. Then after about 45 minutes, I got a room. It was strange. No mirror, the toilet was very small, you can hardly turn inside. Sitting on the commode, your face shall hit the front wall. It had a huge transparent window without a curtain and can be seen through from outside. The commode hand shower was broken and had no pressure of water coming out ( all photos and videos attached). The toilet door would open, covering up half of the wash basin. Food price was exorbitant. A piece boiled potato for a kid cost 40 rupees. 2 for 80. 3 bowls of maggi, some pakodas and 4 cups of tea, 1.5 bowls of rice, dal, sabji, 4 rotis, 2 pieces of bread, 2 boiled eggs, 2 pieces of boiled potatos was charged 1450 rupees. The location is however good and there are nice views outside. The owner/manager sits in manali and conducts everything over phone to his boys at the facility.

Awesome location for snow lovers... Best view where we can see snow capped everywhere and around the stay. We can touch and play on snow. Good room service and care takers are good. Hospitality also good.

Location: The location of the place is superb. It is situated just above Pagalnala. There are only a few places functional at this time of the year in Sissu. So, that’s the biggest advantage of staying here. Rooms: The rooms are clean. There was a voltage problem when we were staying here though. So, the kettle and the tiny heater and blanket provided were not at all functional. So, come prepared with a heating element to keep the room warm at -15 degrees. The common room has an old-school fire heater though. Running water in the washrooms: The common washroom probably had running water but not the rooms. We were not informed about this earlier. It was very inconvenient. Other places (hotels) usually have running water at these temperatures. Meals: The food was delicious but the kitchen was unhygienic. There’s a place just beneath the stay - you can get basic meals like rajma chawal, curry, omelette, momos, maggi, etc. here. Service: You cannot expect service as it is a homestay but again, basic essentials like hot water bottle should be provided without the need for asking everyday. Host: Akash is very kind and helpful. You can call him and he will always sort things out for you. The other help were also available when needed.
