Rudraksh Retreat Gokarna

Booked seeing the good reviews. Visited in the monsoon month July. 1) The place is not accessible by vehicle. Reaching here requires you to park the 2 wheeler around 300 m away, climb a gate and walk through an almost flooded path. 2) There was no one at the property except the lady who had come for cleaning. She had no idea there was a booking. Owner’s phone was switched off. 3) The place was filled with water and hence a lot of mosquitoes. 4) No body at the property after 5 pm (said the cleaning lady). I’m sure, if it wasn’t offseason, the look would have been different. But for now, the place looked haunted. This was no way a traveller expects a trip to start off. We booked a hotel nearby and got refund for this booking from MakeMyTrip after multiple calls.

Very nice property to stay in Gokarna. The rooms are spacious and have the basic amenities. The property is small but well managed. It is around 10 metres from the beach. The ambience is quite peaceful. The cons of this property are that it doesn't have dedicated car parking and food is not served here. Overall a good place to stay if you expect a tranquil environment and are okay to walk to the beach for food!

Had an amazing stay at the property. I was a little hesitant at first as it is a non AC property, however my thoughts were dismissed at an instance when i saw the property. The room felt airy, it was clean and neat. We were greeted with a warm welcome by the care taker and some yummy kokam sherbet. Victoria was a great host and was a phone call away at all times. The place felt safe and the close proximity to the beach made me more than just content. Gokarna is beautiful and this property just made my travel experience even better. I would 10/10 recommend!

We stayed in Rudraksha retreat during third week of Dec’23. The rooms and ambience are very different in a good way, from normal hotels. Rooms were very spacious. Bed was big enough for 2 people. Interiors done with good aesthetics. Sustainability living is being promoted here hence air conditioners are not provided in the room. However, there is a big ceiling fan and a portable fan provided and we did not feel the need for an AC. Bathrooms were neat. The beach is 2 min walk from the stay and we were in the beach until 11 PM without any security fear. Large number of restaurants are available along the beach shore where one can walk in anytime in the evening. Being vegetarians, we could find few restaurants along the shore but the place would be a food haven for Non-vegetarians especially seafood. Victoria, Sudheer and daughter Aadhya greeted us pleasantly on first day. Though we were having rough itinerary for going around Gokarna and Murudeshwar, Victoria being in Gokarna for many years guided us on best places to visit around which we gladly added in our itinerary and toured these places. Retreat does not have a restaurant/hotel in its compound but presence of many hotels in beach shore neutralises this. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend this property.

After travelling from Udupi to Kumta to Gokarna in the sunny weather, when i entered the premise, we were welcomed by the hosts Sudhir and Victoria and we entered the room and man i must say what a positive aura that room had, felt like home. I went with my husband and we fell in love with the Place instantly. Very spacious room, Clean bathroom, water felt like every bit of it was so so pure and energetic and both the hosts were super cool and we had an instant connection. I would rate 5 star for the stay, for the environment, for the location , for the hospitality. Thanks a lot for the service. Hope to get hosted by you again. God bless you both!

This is a beautiful place to stay. I can’t recommend this place enough. The beach is located literally 40 seconds away by walk. You can enjoy a morning dip or a sunset swim (amazing). The owners are both wonderful and super kind. I stayed roughly 6 days and was really well taken care off. They’ll give you recommendations for places to see and spots to eat. Definitely looking forward to coming back! Thank you Sudhir and Victoria!!

I have been here with my friends in June 2022 I would say it is one of the relaxing and beautiful places to stay with clean rooms and washrooms. It is definitely an ideal escape from the usual city noise and close to nature and beach. The Gokarna main temple is just 1km away and 2min walk to the Gokarna main beach from the stay making it accessible. Need to walk 150-200m from the road after parking to reach the stay as you have to cross the fields. They might help you in carrying your luggage if you inform your arrival before time. However, if elderly people are there with you, they might find it little difficult to walk down the fields, otherwise there is no issue as such The owners are sweet and are good hosts giving a great hospitality to the visitors and guiding them the nearby places to visit. Overall it is the best place in gokarna for stay and relaxing. Definitely I will be coming back with my family to stay here again

Wonderful stay and the host (Victoria) was prompt in communication and keeping us informed. The rooms are well laid out and the interior design is simple and well thought out. Large and well ventilated rooms. None of the rooms have AC , but the cross ventilation keeps the room cool. The property is very close to the beach. It does not have a restaurant, but there is one right next to it. Highly recommend.
