★★★★★08/01/2015||||It is never easy to say bye to a family that has opened their hearts to you.||||Mrs Ganga Cariappa and Mr Cariappa were such a joy to meet and a real treat to be with.||I was in their home for one night and I can only understand the feelings of all those who have reviewed them ( did i say them! i mean their homestay. ) on this site. From the first call I made to Ganga, to make enquiries and every moment I lived in their home was happiness.||||but then, can we, the travelling guests, really honestly say that we can seperate a homestay from the hosts?. after taking advantage of someones hospitality its impossible to do so. and having lived in homestays for almost two decades ( all in india) I can safely say that the cariappas are genuinely welcoming and caring. I fell ill for the one night i was with them and they took such good care of me. I cannot thank them enough. Meeting them was such a sense of deja vu. not for a moment did i feel like this is the first time i have met them.||||The digs are really cool. I loved them. Independent. Private. almost like having a home to yourself. with its own independent entrance and located on the first floor of their home. It was beautiful. There is a staircase that leads to the room. Its so cute.||||Their home is in a great location. Its easily accessible Its located very close to an arterial road. Just round the corner is a bus stop and a rickshaw stand which will get you to every part of Mysore easily and quickly. Some very nice eating places are close by. The very popular Ashtanga Yoga school run by Sunil is also a five minutes walk away.||||The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful. The home is situated in a tree lined lane. I loved the few short walks i took there.||||Whenever you are in Mysore, you will not be a stranger anymore.||||Ganga and Cariappa , if you are reading this, Thank you.

Clean room and bathroom with a large balcony ( to meditate or watch the stars at night)||This place is very close to the city center and major tourist places. ( 4 kms from the railway station)|| Ideal for single female travelers , backpackers & families alike.

NillThe location is very good. 5-10 mins. Distance to all popular tourist destination from this stay facility. The rooms are good with retro light fittings. Only concern is washroom need a lot of maintenance. The property owner has a dog named Bolt and he is very friendly with guests.

★★★★Thanks to Ganga and Cariappa for quickly responding and arranging for the stay in spite of our short notice (approx 10 mins). We were looking for a place to stay in the night during our long drive from Mangalore to Coimbatore, immediately after the phone call they helped us with an accomodation which helped us in relaxing and taking some good rest. Though our stay was very short, my family and i really enjoyed it. It is a beautiful house located at a quiet residential area in the city. Hospitality was great ! A home away from home.

★★★★★By the time I had reached Mysore, it was at the end of my trip to India. After spending a few days at the Shanti Niwas BnB, I did not want to leave. Ganga and Cari were one of the most delightful couple I met during my trip, and their children Gagan and Suniana were an absolute pleasure to talk to. ||The flat was huge....large living room area, separate bedroom, and a large bathroom. It was set on the entire upper level of the house and very private. The location was very central and close to everything in a quiet suburb of Mysore. Ganga made several recommendations for restaurants, sites to see, and shopping choices. My visit to a temple on Chamundi Hill with Cari was one of my highlights of my 3 week trip to South India.|| I was welcomed with great courtesy, made felt like I was part of the family, given my privacy, and helped with every need that I had.......and that's the experience every BnB should offer. ||I would highly recommend this BnB and would definitely stay here again without any hesitation. Bookmark this BnB during your search, so you will not pass by the best place to stay in Mysore. ||||Ron....Sooke, British Columbia, Canada

★★★★My stay at Shanthi Miwas was a warm welcome. ||Such a wonderful family! I could stay talking and drink chai all day.||Tea, Coffee & Biscuits was frequently offered, and I found they are such a great source of information.||||The area is in Sadartha Layout and their home is very close to a great dosa and almond milk cafe, the location is safe, clean and not too far from the main local street for shopping. Otherwise you can always hop on a bus which stops close by and takes you into town for only 10Rups!! ||||All in all my room was clean with a large double bed :-D

★★★★★I stayed at Shanthi Niwas for a couple of nights recently. Ganga was incredibly welcoming with tea and a snack. Since I'd arrived with a terrible headache, she was very kind to make me dinner so that I wouldn't have to go out to eat. She didn't even let me pay for it. |Her morning masala dosas were fantastic too! She was very accommodating and had great recommendations for Mysore. |I would love to stay at hers again because I experienced genuine hospitality at Shanthi Niwas and so will you when you drop by hers! |Thank you Ganga for being a kind host! I hope you and your family are doing great.

★★★★★I stayed with Ganga and Cary for 4 days this March, having luckily come across their home stay via a traveller recommendation. They welcomed me into their family immediately and the chats and fun we had was actually the highlight of my stay in mysore (although its a beautiful city!). I was travelling alone and practising yoga and they couldn't have been more accommodating or kind: giving me suggestions of where to visit and eat, which buses to get into the city (don't be put off my the location its an easy 15-20 mins by bus or rickshaw to the centre), endless supply of papaya and even taking me to their club for swimming; whilst also giving me space. The house and room are clean, simple and peaceful and Ganga cooks a beautiful breakfast; shanthi is the perfect name for this guest house. Thank you Ganga and Cary, I hope to be back soon!
