Poetrie Homestay

Solo traveler from UK, extended my stay immediately upon arrival (stayed for 3 weeks in total) as I’ve not seen any accommodation like this during my travels around India. I’ve also stayed at a few 4 star hotels in-between but this place comes in at No1. A family run homestay and the cleaner also takes pride in delivering a high standard. Other places are often indifferent but you can feel the care & soul of Poetrie from the moment you step in. Hot water, good sized bedrooms, airy, clean towels & sheets (& pillows). Communal super clean kitchenette & table plus a clean fridge. Spotless floors, kettle & tea coffee is available to make your own brew. A bright & welcoming space. Rooms are cleaned regularly for longer stays & I felt very safe, comfortable & happy. Location is fantastic, walking distance to pretty much everything & yet tucked away from the main road so you sleep peacefully. Fantastic veggie restaurant down the road which Mini introduced me to plus other local eateries and tea stalls. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my stay thanks to Mini & her brilliant daughters. You will not find a better place than Poetrie. Other home stays and hotels could learn a thing or two from this place. I also got my laundry done - all reasonably priced, Mini also helped me book a ticket for the Kathakali theatre. She knows what she’s doing and her heart goes into the home you stay in. Beautiful place beautiful family. Thank you for looking after me so well. Miss you all ❤️

Best value for the price we’ve found in India! Everything worked super well, the host is super helpful and arranged for us the taxi to the airport and kindly allowed a late check out. I really appreciated her help! The room is also nice and everything worked perfectly.

A perfect stay in Kochi. Mini is a wonderful host - warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful. The rooms are really comfortable and clean. The location is great too, with everything you need within walking distance. Highly recommend this homestay!

Outstanding and exceptional! I'm a digital nomad and look for long-stay rooms where I can work in peace. Poetrie ticked all my boxes, so much I extended my initial 1 month stay to almost 7 weeks. Minnie is an excellent host and keeps Poetrie in perfect condition - spotlessly clean and everything working. There's a handy kitchen with fridge, kettle and hotplate, and a communal table with comfy chairs if you need a break from the desk in your room. The wifi is super fast and reliable. Poetrie is down a narrow lane, so no noise or fumes from passing vehicles. Another major bonus is that Poetrie has battery backup, so lights, fans and wifi keep on working during power cuts. Although very popular for short stays, I also highly recommend Poetrie for anyone looking to settle down for a while. A big thank you to Minnie and all the team at Poetrie!

My husband and I stayed here for about two weeks and it was perfect! Minny was beyond gracious and helped me get settled into a comfortable and very clean room. She and her daughter gave us several suggestions about local events and good restaurants in the area and even picked up food for us from a local restaurant that was a little far away. The wifi worked well and each room has its own a/c. The house is a short walk from shopping and the waterfront. Poetrie is a gem in Fort Kochi.

We were crossing Kochi and visited fort Kochi on our way and wanted to rest a while. Same day booking, and since it was for a few hours they reduced the rate. Very thoughtful of them. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, good wifi. It's worth it for the price. The only con was airconditioning cooking level was low.

A UK traveller, first time in Kochi. 5 star experience I have spent last 5 weeks travelling India and have stayed at 5 star hotels, hostels and homestays. This place is a gem. Why? meticulously clean place and well presented Nice specification of room Hot shower available everytime Excellent aircon Super value and peace of mind as property feels safe and secure Location is close to main attractions Hosts are friendly, warm and helpful Speak excellent English. I am a big cricket fan and they arranged for me to watch the cricket on TV. Also watch the Kathakali theatre ( host can arrange). Same day laundry service available. I stayed 2 nights and would happily stay here again - ticked all my boxes and such good value

Nice quiet place, neat and safe. The incharge is good and helpful. Only thing is that one should know the correct place for food, which the homestay people guide you. Very good value for the money. Good place for home loving people.
