Common Grounds Guest House

Common grounds home stay is simply an amazing place. Joy and Thankamma are wonderful hosts. I stayed in their lovely guest house for two weeks and I never felt like a guest from the time i stepped in. Joy is so kind and helpful with getting my transport around Calicut sorted. And Thankamma is fantastic cook. After a long day, it was a delight to return to such exquisitely prepared meals in the evening. The guest house has warm and friendly atmosphere, kept meticulously clean and well maintained. One feels like a guest at common grounds only on the first day............

This is the best Homestay we visited in India. The family who run Common Grounds are very welcoming and helpful. The rooms are spacious, immaculately clean and very reasonably priced. The location is easy to find and convenient for the train station and airport. We had a Keralan breakfast which was delicious. Communal areas are comfortable and relaxing. Highly recommended.

Modern, spotlessly clean rooms,our room even had fresh flowers. The guesthouse is outside the main centre of Calicut, along a quiet road, but the beach is only a short tuctuc ride away and there s an excellent restaurant just around the corner. The hosts welcomed us with a cup of chai, while their charming granddaughter entertained us and their son booked us a train ticket for the next day and even saw us onto the train. The hosts spoke excellent English and could not have been more charming and helpful.

While visiting friends in India, I had the pleasure of a meal and a shower here before a very early morning flight. The rooms and common areas were tastefully decorated. Joy and his wife were so delightful, friendly, and personable. I had a wonderful meal here! Wow! What a cook is Tangama! (not sure how to spell her name) Stay here if you want to feel at home!

​Great location - away from the noisy city yet a short auto ride to it. Great friendly hosts. Mouth watering Home made Food to die for. Very comfortable settings. Nice place for long stays or a short break on a journey through Kerala.

We stayed here for one night on our way from Cochin to Wayannad. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful and provided us with a delicious evening meal and breakfast. The room was immaculate and the bed extremely comfortable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Homestay.

This place is a little piece of heaven. It has everything you would want in a homestay: a fresh, clean, and spacious room; very comfortable bedding; all the necessary amenities; delicious and ample breakfast; and a quiet, pleasant location. But best of all are the people. The host family, Salija, Suresh, and Sonu, made us feel like we were also part of the family. Their kindness, generosity, and hospitality were exceptional and we loved the time we spent with them. The manager, Jibu, was attentive and accommodating. He checked in with us regularly, and helped us with meals, transport, and local sight-seeing. When we needed assistance later in our trip, these wonderful people leapt to our aid without hesitation. This was a home-away-from-home for us, and we'd especially recommend it to other international visitors.

Although the guest house is close to the main road and main bus station, it is in a quiet and peaceful lane. Food and welcome exceeded expectations. Warm charming and a doing family. Certainly a great place to stop over if exploring further afield.
