NillBeen here for 5 days from Bangalore during Christmas-New Year holiday leave time. Google Maps location to this place is almost accurate, while reaching, just for the last 1 minute, you need to remember the road you have taken to reach the home stay. It is a 45 degree uphill drive for half a minute to get to this home stay. It is good if your car is at least a 1.2L powered vehicle and sub 4 metre in length, as the path to enter into the gate is kind of narrow. The host Mr. Manoj & his family are very warm and welcoming. You immediately feel home once you speak to them and the check-in process was quite a breeze (Since I also speak Malayalam, it was much easier communicating with them). The homestay is surrounded by various trees on one side and garden plants (banana tree, etc) on the other side. The other side of the homestay has a beautiful view of an opposite mountain which is very scenic during the night time when lights are lit. Breakfast and Dinner were part of the the package and complementary. They are home prepared by them (which is little away from this homestay) and then brought to you on time (typically, breakfast @ 8.30 AM and dinner @ 8 PM). The food is entirely done in local Kerala style (so expect organic coconut oil in most of the curries), however, you can ask for special varieties if you wanted a different cuisine/style, which they happily accept and serve. The dinner main dish will be a non-vegetarian - be it a chicken curry or fish masala, etc. They are really mouth-watering and done to your tastes. The bed to sleep is quite spacious and can easily accommodate 4 adults. The blankets will be provided them which is good enough to beat the chilling weather at night during winters. What's excellent here: 1. Very friendly host and you feel like a family with them. 2. In house Gas heated water facility, hence no worry about late hour shower or mid night hot water needs. 3. The homestay is in a calm and serene location, hence if you love a peaceful stay, then you will love this place. Don't miss out the late evening view in the back side balcony. 4. There's a power backup (UPS) facility here, hence no worry of a sudden power failure during a good night sleep. 5. There's a single burner gas stove is available for your basic needs like boiling water/milk or to heat-up your curries. 6. A TV with Tata sky dish connection is provided and all basic channels are available including kids cartoon channels. 7. The food served here are prepared home authentic (organic coconut oil, etc), hence we really loved its taste and aroma. Things to be watchful for: 1. There's a half feet floor hump in the middle of the homestay room which is mostly unnoticeable, so if you are with your children on the run, be little careful there especially after lights are off. 2. Taking the car in and out is a little tricky. 3. Being a homestay in the midst of a thick jungle of trees and plants, be watchful of any insects/reptiles, particularly if your children are playing outside. Overall, it was a good experience staying here and recommend to other ones for a budget at the same time an awesome stay!
