Judge's Court, Puri

Judge's Court, Puri is a heritage home-stay bungalow tucked away 700m from the Blue Flag Beach on VIP Road. If you treasure warm hospitality, sumptuous food and the old world charm of a cozy bunglow, then this place is for you. ||The bungalow is very beautifully restored and maintained by Archana (the present owner) with vintage furniture and traditional artifacts. Huge living room, lawn and courtyard adorn the bunglow. Beautifully maintained garden as well. ||The food is homecooked on order. Everything is procured fresh post the order. The food is simply outstanding. Very best of Odiya and Bengali cuisine. Chef Rabi creates his own magic with his tailor made cuisine. ||Kudos to Archana and her outstanding team for making our trip memorable!

We were very happy with the accommodation - a very cosy and homely place. |Service of the house helps was really good and they took care of all our needs. |The host / landlady was extremely helpful from the very beginning and helped in local sight seeing; temple Darshan arrangements and all suggestions for Konark / Chilka Lake.

I am posting a late review. I visited Puri in August and stayed here. From the moment I booked, the host Archana was extremely helpful and warm. As a matter of fact, she went above and beyond. She even helped me arrange local transportation. There was a mix-up with the pickup from the airport and she volunteered to pick me up herself. The property is as you see in the photos. It exudes an old world charm with quaint furniture and mid-century architecture. Things which warrant special mention are a pleasant, well-kept garden and a well-stocked bookshelf. The staff is also very helpful. There is a resident chef who can prepare all kinds of cuisines for you. The property is perfect for solo travellers and families alike.

A Gem in Puri – Perfect Blend of Charm and Comfort I had an amazing experience staying at this beautifully maintained property near Puri “Judges Court”. The homestay effortlessly retains its old-world charm while offering all the comforts one could need. From get go hostess Archana was most helpful with suggestions on sight seeing , guides and places to shop. The attendants were not only professional but also warm and attentive, always keen to cater to our needs and make us feel at home. The location is another big plus—nestled in the heart of the city and conveniently close to all the major attractions, making it a perfect base for sightseeing. If you’re looking for a cozy, charming, and welcoming place to stay in Puri, this is an excellent choice. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city!

We stayed at Judges Court for 2 nights. We visited as family (4 adults and 1 child) and took 2 double rooms in Dec last week.||The property is a heritage villa located on VIP road, just behind Pride Ananya Resort and around 10 min walk from the Blue Flag Beach. There are 4 rooms in total - 2 larger rooms with king beds and 2 smaller rooms apart from a common areas like the living cum dining room, a verandah and plenty of open space. Rooms may be individually booked or villa as whole as per need. The open space is well developed with gardens, trees, lawn, badminton play area and an in-house vegetable garden. This pet friendly location has 2 dogs - Bruno and Penny..they are playful and don't inconvenience visitors. If you require, we can notify the care takers to tie them whenever needed.||Food - Inhouse cook prepares food based on your choice from an exhaustive menu (veg + non veg). Food is homely and tasty. You need to share your choice and quantity few hours in advance so that the cook can prepare accordingly. Breakfast is complementary while lunch/dinner is as per request. Prices are reasonable.||Care takers - There are 2 caretakers Shibu and Debu for all needs. They are very helpful.||Transport - Car with in-house driver is available and services may be requested based on itinerary.||Other facilities - WiFi, Mini library, TV, AC etc.||What sets this place apart is that is this not a regular hotel..it is a 70+ year old ancestral home of the owner..well maintained with plenty of greenery and supportive staff. It seems like a home away from home. Certainly recommend for stay in Puri. ||Thanks to the owner Ms Archana Mahapatra for maintaining and operating the stay...it is not easy task to operate a heritage property. And also for providing a very personalized experience throughout the stay. This included with quick support on queries and suggestions beyond the stay such as shopping tips, places to see etc.||

We were three families and a very senior citizen. Before booking on enquiry we were informed that it is an individual bungalow, having four rooms and four toilets.|The bungalow is an old time bungalow, big one with a well maintained garden and out house for staffs.|Only two rooms are with attached toilet. The second big room where I stayed was with attached toilet. The room does not have a cupboard, have few open racks and an alnaa. No electric kettle and tea bags etc. Room was not well lit. Room wall painting is very old. The bed is not a single king size bed but two single bed joined together. Quality of mattress is not comfortable. Room requires to upgrade. |The toilet does not have an exhaust fan. No hand shower. No basic toletories, only a small piece of soap, and a bucket and mug provided. The gyeser is very old and geyser outer surface painted with white paint. It takes about half an hour to get hot water after switching on the gyeser and for safety reason can not keep it on as we do not know whether the cut off device is functional or not. Toilet also require to upgrade properly.|Staff are very cordial and well behalved. Cook is not familiar with cooking some of very common Indian dishes like idly, dosa etc. otherwise the cook is ok and can cook ordinary daily food. Breakfast is only one item as per owners instruction to cook.|There are lot of mosquitos, so in the evening it is very uncomfortable to sit in the open veranda.|All together the property is like an upgraded lodge.

We had an amazing stay at Judges Court. This is a 70+ year old villa located on the VIP road, just behind Pride Ananya Resort and around 10 min walk from the Blue Flag Beach. The property is well maintained and has plenty of greenery with lawns, garden, a vegetable growing area etc. There are 2 large rooms with double beds and I believe there are also 2 smaller rooms with single beds. Rooms may be individually booked or the villa as a whole. There is a option to place additional mattresses considering rooms are relatively spacious. Rooms have TV, AC etc. The living cum dining room and the Verandah are common. The living room has good collection of books for reading. All staff are very friendly - caretakers Shibu, Debu, the cook Mr. Nayak et al. Breakfast is complementary while lunch/dinner may be ordered in demand a few hours in advance from an exhaustive menu. Food is prepared inhouse and is tasty/homely. Prices are reasonable. There are 2 pet dogs - Bruno and Penny. Both are friendly to visitors. However, if you are not comfortable, the caretakers would tie them as and when needed. Wifi is available. Car with driver is provided based on need and itinerary. The driver Bipin was good and we took his services for 3 days. Above all thanks to all the support and personalized experience from the owner Ms. Archana Mahapatra. Would recommend for visitors to Puri.
