Auro Mirra Homestay

Our two bags with cash and cloths with a total worth of around Rs. 19000/- got stolen on 21.11.19 at the homestay. The lock was not broken, there was no sign of an outside thief. The homestay owners Mr. Ayyanaar and his uncles Raju and his brother accepted that someone in their homestay used the two spare keys to open up our cottage and take off our bags. There were no guests at that time and we were the only guests. they started blaming the cleaning staff and the neighbors but they seemed innocent. Fearing that we would give a police complaint, they gave us in written statement in a blank white paper that they would return the bags if found or else would pay the cash equivalent and they asked for 2 days' time. They did not have even a letter pad and stamp or seal as they are running the homestay illegally. We got the letter and checked out early as we felt unsafe to stay there anymore. There's no CCTV, no reception, no attender to call incase of an emergency. It's been 5 days since the incident and there's no proper reply from their side despite sending them the list of items stolen. They do not even attend our calls. The owners and the incharge guy are a team of goons, thieves and totally fraud. Do not book this homestay. Your life and property are not guaranteed to be safe here.

My friends stayed here in last week and I enquired for booking there. But I got shocked to here about the situation happened to them. Their bags got missed in the locked room. The homestay fellow hesitated to take responsibility. But my friend asked them to give a written statement to take responsibility for the missing bags. They gave it in a piece of paper as they don't have even a letter pad. My friend also added that there were no cameras around the homestay and no one to do the basic services. After hearing all these I dropped the plan of staying there. Ensure the safety before booking this kind of homestay.

We checked in around 6.30p.m. on 20th Nov 2019 and Mr. Ayyanar was the one who received us. He didn't ask for any proof as well as didn't record our arrival. There was no office or reception in the homestay. That night he left us and no one was there to attend for any emergency. There were no other guests too. We didn't feel safe that night. The next day we left around 7a.m. and returned by evening. We found our two travel bags missing. The entire things missed cost around Rs.19k. Mr. Ayyanar came with few of his relatives. Among them one was his uncle and the owner of the land he said. We waited one whole day without going anywhere for them to check with the staff and neighbourhood. But of no use and we didn't feel safe to stay there any longer. As we have to come back to our home town and cannot follow up with them, we asked them to give a written statement in their letter head. Then we came to know they don't have even a letter pad. We doubt whether they have licence to run the homestay. They don't have any CCTV cameras, security, compound wall and reception. They asked us to wait till last Sunday to find the bags and return otherwise to pay the amount. But didn't turn up yet with a final decision. They kept on postponing whenever we called. Today they didn't attend our call too. Their carelessness ruined our two days trip, we migrated unnecessarily again to puducherry before completing our plans. We just migrated because the situation was going worse. We didn't sleep properly for two days. Not a safe place to stay particularly when you are the only guest there!

Nobody is there for the check-in. It was late but we were excepted there. We went somewhere else (hopefully we found a place to sleep). Then we called and we said that we will meet there at 10 am but again, nobody was there waiting for us. We gave up. Bad place. Nobody is there to welcome you and do the check-in ! They probably don't need us. Despite the name it's not an Auroville guest house. Be aware about that. You don't have the discounts...

Very worst service and they will cheat you easily. If you want to loose all of your belongings and valuables then go and stay there. Guys beware that this is not a proper hotel or home stay as you think and advertised. So don't ever think to stay here then you feel bad later about it.

My friend had staying here for a night. Their bags were stolen by this place's staffs. No care taker was available even in case of emergency. This place is run illegally. After leaving the place, those guys not even responded to my friend's calls. Please avoid this plaxe totally.

Very worst service.. No cctv No receptionist The place is not comfortable to stay for younger because they are cheating very easily and it's really happened on my friend👭👬 .. .so be aware on stay there
