Vana- The Forest Getaway by Loka

I recently had the pleasure of staying in a charming room nestled in the heart of the forest, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The route to the Vana adds a sense of adventure to the journey but requires a little preparation due to its muddy terrain. As you approach the forest resort, the paved roads gradually give way to a dirt trail that winds through dense greenery. The path is surrounded by tall trees and the occasional sound of rustling leaves or bird calls, creating an immersive natural atmosphere. During the rainy season or after a recent rain, the trail can become muddy, with patches of soft earth and puddles scattered along the way. Driving on this route requires a steady hand, especially if you're navigating with a standard car. A vehicle with higher ground clearance or all-wheel drive is ideal for tackling the uneven surface and slippery patches. The muddy route also has its charm — it’s a reminder of the pristine wilderness you’re entering. You may spot animal tracks in the mud, adding to the sense of connection with nature. While the journey might be slower than usual, the reward is worth it. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the serene surroundings and the perfect blend of comfort and nature. The room itself was a cozy haven, thoughtfully designed to complement the natural beauty outside. Large windows offered breathtaking views of the lush greenery, allowing sunlight to filter through the trees during the day and providing a magical glimpse of the stars at night. The decor was rustic yet modern, with all the amenities I could need — king size bed, kitchenette, and a pool. What made this stay stand out was the tranquility of the location. Waking up to the gentle sounds of birdsong and the rustling leaves was the perfect antidote to the hustle of daily life. Vana by loka is a forest retreat self catered stay near by Auroville. It is surrounded by lush green trees(forest) as they have specified. The rooms are clean and neat. They have an induction stove and provide you vessels to cook if needed. You will have a quite stay away from the busy traffic. The swimming pool was muddy and not usable. There was no reception and only one person guarding the stay throughout the day who doesn't understand the native language but was highly friendly and hospitable. However, the major pain point was the poor road accessibility leading to the stay. The Google map navigation showing the path towards to the stay was misleading as the so called auroville volunteers are not allowing us to travel through the proper road. There was one stone hearted volunteer not allowing us to enter the proper road even when we had ladies and kids on board. Instead, we have to travel a whole lot of 8+ kms to reach the resort. To highlight, the last 2 kms was the major pain in the ***. There was no proper road and surrounded by rain water and was completely muddy. Also, the road leading towards the resort had no/very poor lights making it highly unsafe for travellers going through this road post 5 pm. You will also be accompanied by cows, dogs in the night and it's highly unsafe to travel by bike or walk. Overall, my peace was highly tested during the stay when I was supposed to unwind myself in the retreat. Also, my kind request to the so called Insta influencers to stop spreading misleading information to the crowd.

A beautiful property located right amidst woods and the location is what we love the MOST 😍 I love how uniquely they have designed the rooms with splendid interiors. We booked the room with balcony, so we could just sit and chill. At morning, we had our coffee with the chirping sound of birds ♥️ That was really a unforgettable feeling about this property 😍

Looking at a retreat from the busy city life, my wife and I discovered this little gem. This property is soo peaceful, I was supposed to stay for a day but ended up extending..it had the right mix of comfort and luxury, it was quite easy for me to unplug from the chaos and enjoy the stillness- the staff is very helpful. I met the owner and she had some great recommendations for places to eat. Very fond of my stay here, because it gave me the break I was looking for. Will definitely go back!!

Vana by Loka is a nice place to spot for a serene getaway from your daily life. I have been visiting Auroville and Pondicherry for work and look to stay at places that are comfortable for longer stays. Vana as a studio located near the Auroville forest is convenient for longer stays, there is space for working on your laptop and also a pool to refresh after work.
