The place is the starting point of the trek towards Kartikswami temple .It is a small village with some HOMESTAYs with rooms and dormitories but available as there is still no rush of so many tourists. Kanakchauri has limited options for stay and Kartikeya Palace is a pleasant one! We stayed for a day as a family while visiting Kartikeya Swami temple and liked the home stay. This is on main road so you dont need to climb up and down with luggage like some other properties. They have rooms on two levels, two rooms behind their own small tea shop/restaurant and two rooms below the ground floor. Ground floor rooms get lot of noise from road and shop during evening but is best if you want to feel the village life and get the chatter. If you want quiet secluded place, go for rooms below ground floor. From the standards of the village the rooms and washrooms are clean. Blankets were clean too. Food prepared by the owner was fresh- directly from pan to plate. And Negi ji is also a treat to talk to. You can do Kartikeya temple in evening as well as early morning if you stay here. Also try the sky observatory and fresh Pahadi products (juice and pickles) next door if you visit this village.

This holy temple is dedicated to Kartikeya, the elder son of Lord Shiva and is adorned at the end of a narrow ridge, enclosed by a deep valley. One can soak in the mystical beauty of the snowy peaks and the lower Himalayas that can be seen from here. If you move inside, you’ll be stunned by the beautifully carved idol of Kartik Swami. Night stay also available here if not too much Devotee here, also breakfast,lunch and dinner available with different price range.

Owner Mr.Sanjoy is very good and Co-operate gentle man, Try to feed any kind of needed. Also a good arrange for staying with fooding . Must be visited.
