Tuesday, 1st March, 2025 , As we head back home, there are many thoughts flashing through my mind. At Clifton, the mundane became extraordinary, hospitality bar was set high and the clock stopped for five days to allow us to experience days filled with the simple joys of life. For all of this, we wish to thank Shivi for going out of his way to make us feel comfortable every single day. There was a personal touch to everything that happened in Clifton. Shivi regaled us with stories from Nainital and took us back to the past. Did we believe in all his stories? To find out, you have to come to Clifton. He, along with his staff, made sure every meal was finger-licking delicious with some local fares thrown in. The jams, pickles and sweets served during the meals were all home-made. The staff served the guests with a smile on their faces throughout our stay. A big shout out to the staff for their warmth and for pampering us. It's also a miracle that the weather Gods were kind during our stay in Nainital. Bonfires, treks, conversations in the garden and some pranks by Shivi.... we are carrying back innumerable memories, that we will cherish forever. Shivi, thank you, thank you for this amazing holiday at Clifton. Clifton Bungalow is highly recommended for those who want a unique experience.

Wonderful place to stay, with a very knowledgeable host who has lived in this mansion for almost 6 decades. Overlooking the Nainital lake and a 15 minute drive uphill from the boathouse club, Clifton is halfway up the mountain, and a 30-35 minute walk to the Dorothy Seat lookout. The place has been in the family for decades, and hasn’t been modified much. Well appointed rooms and toilets, and some amazing hunting trophies adorn the walls. Suitable for families, especially with small children or elderly relatives - the car can reach right up to the entrance of the rooms.

Homestay at Clifton was a delightful experience - a very generous and gracious host, spacious clean rooms, delectable food - each item cooked to perfection, helpful and friendly staff. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle - Clifton offers meditative views, perfect place for the art retreat I attended. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We, a family of 15 recently had a pleasure to stay at Shivi's. This is by far the best homestay that we have been to. With so much history in each and every corner of this Heritage property and yet the level of comfort could match a 5 star which makes it truly exceptional. I am a frequent traveler and we all travel together in a big group. The pampering, the attention that we got here is unmatched. Shout out to the kitchen staff who spoiled us with near perfect food. Children loved the open spaces and the games provided by Mr Shivi. He was always there for us to do something extra to make our stay memorable. We stayed for 2 days but we have created so many moments of ours in this beautiful bunglow. Staff was there for us within minutes from early morning till midnight. As we had kids with us and they are very demanding, kitchen staff helped us with every request, as with such a big group everyone has different choice of food/beverages. We are already planning to go back again for a few days. Many thanks again for your support and care and obviously for maintaining this beautiful heritage. Will see you again soon

Stayed at Clifton as part of an Art Retreat in end of March and was super impressed with the place — the location, the vibes, hosts and hospitality, food and service, everything was amazing. The views from the resort, the ability to stay away from the crowds and enjoy the tranquil beauty, and yet be where the action is within minutes of a downhill walk, short treks from Clifton to the Glade or Tiffin Top, or the famous schools of Nainital — everything has left a lasting memory. The host, Shivi, is generous with his time, knowledge of the place, and also sharing stories from yester years ! And the staff and the food were beyond amazing !

We had a delightful experience at the Clifton Bunglow. The bungalow is conveniently located, allowing both, walks through quiet trails or a hop-over to the local market/ mall road. The rooms are large and comfortable. The food is delectable. It's a perfect weekend getaway to enjoy some quiet downtime and soak in some sun. Our host, Shivi, deserves a special mention for his warm and welcoming hospitality. We hope to visit the Bungalow again.

Clifton is not a resort, homestay, hotel, or bungalow. Clifton is a vibe. A cozy, comfortable, immersed in natural beauty, yet open to adventure vibe. The history of the bungalow and all the curiosities that are so intrinsic to its character make for endless stories. And Shivi is just the person to tell those stories. But more than that, when you go to Clifton, it's like going to your own home in the hills. The staff is so warm and caring that we didn't want to come back to the humdrum of regular life. We went on small treks around and also walked down to the busy Nainital flats. Rarely do you come back from a holiday feeling so thoroughly relaxed and taken care of.

I stayed at this charming, well preserved, beautifully appointed heritage property in end April as part of an art retreat. I spent much time in the beautiful garden with the art group soaking in the stunning views and enjoying the plethora of flowers. The food was excellent and the staff helpful. Any special requirements/ requests were accomodated graciously. Our host, Mr Shiveshwar Singh is a raconteur par excellence and we were happy to hear the stories of evolving Nainital. He has a great collection of books, photo albums and music. The places to visit in Nainital are convenient to access and short drives away.
