NillAmazing location, amazing rooms and great hospitality…. Urgam valley is mesmerisingly with terrace fields, flowing streams, snow capped Mountain View’s and forests. It’s a place to soak in the mountains, meditate, go for long walks and watch the helicopters fly overhead. You will hear more helicopters(flying to char dham) than vehicles at Urgam. The resort is a quint little place which is a traditional Pahadi house. There is a bit of climb to reach it from the road, but the view is absolutely amazing. During our 5 day stay, we were blessed to see the sun, stars, clouds, rain, hail, lighting and a rainbow. We did three short treks to Banga pani stream, Urga Rishi temple and Kalpeshwari Mahadev temple, easily doable by most people. Each spot had its own charm and must visit. Our stay was comfortable with Suchendra and Mohit taking care of us like family. Plus we got to meet some other interesting folks who were staying there and had a good time over morning tea, meals, treks and camp fire. We also received a lot of love from the canine gang, Kali her two puppies rocky, coco and their friend Jimmy. Overall, it was one of the best stays that I have done and I hope my photos do justice to the place.

NillWe had the most beautiful stay in Urgam Valley. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming—it truly felt like home. The food was simple, homemade, and absolutely delicious. The village itself is so peaceful and quiet, surrounded by stunning views that soothe your soul. A perfect place to disconnect and just be. I’ll carry the memories of this stay with me for a long time. Highly recommended if you’re looking for serenity and genuine hospitality.

NillA Hidden Gem in the Heart of Urgam Valley! Reaching this beautiful stay deep in the remote Urgam Valley might be a bit of a journey — but believe me, every mile is worth it. Tucked away in pristine nature, this property offers a rare kind of peace and authenticity that’s hard to find. What truly elevates the experience is the host, Mr. Sachedra Pal. His warmth, dedication, and “nothing-is-too-much” attitude towards guests is simply outstanding. Whether it’s a hot chai after a long trek or helping organize local experiences, he ensures you feel more like family than a visitor. If you're someone looking to disconnect from the chaos and truly immerse in Himalayan village life, this is the place. You’ll come for the views, but you’ll stay in your heart for the people. Highly recommended for nature lovers, slow travelers, and those who value genuine hospitality.

NillMy stay at YogMatra offered a truly immersive village experience. The hosts are warm, friendly and deeply connected to the community, which made it easy to engage with local life in a meaningful way. The space has beautiful views of the Himalayas and plenty of hiking options for all levels; some that lead to peaceful temples or quiet spots to take in the landscape. Overall a great space to to wind down, read, meditate and slow your pace. The food was really good and you can also go on a 20-minute walk to the town where they sell great samosas and other snacks. A sweet bonus during my stay was the five new puppies and their mom, Kali, (and the cutie neighbor dog, Jimmy) Highly recommend for anyone looking to connect with nature, community, and a slower way of living.

NillIts a must visit. If you are into slow travelling, unexplored places, want to connect with nature, this is the place! You get the grand himalayan views right in front of the stay. Not to forget the cute dogs. U have the kalpeshwar mandir, rudrnath trek, bansi narayan trek etc to explore. The food is made by Mohit and is amazing. You can practice yoga here too. If you want to truly experience yourself visit here.

NillThis place is really beautiful centered in Nature. I loved my stay there. Jojo and Sash put a Lot of energy and heart in this place and you can immediately feel it when you arrive. They are always there when you need anything and can also guide you to Temples, waterfalls and longer hikes. The Food was also really delicious. I was attending a Yoga Workshop from "Yoga and Smile" there. Manav is a traditional Hatha Yoga teacher and one of the best I've ever met. Having philosophy and Asana classes in the Himalaya Mountains was and amazing experience. I could really Connect with myself and Nature. Thank you for everything ❤️ I am looking forward to come again.

NillIf you're looking for one of the best yoga retreats in the Himalayas or a peaceful stop on your spiritual journey in Uttarakhand, look no further than YogMatra Eco Homestay in Urgam Valley. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and care by Sachendra Pal (Sach Bhai) and his incredible team. A special thanks to Yoga Guru Manav, whose sunrise yoga sessions amidst nature were deeply healing and grounding. One of the most unforgettable parts of my stay was the Ayurvedic massage I received in the open mountains—a dreamlike experience that relieved my back pain and left me feeling lighter, calmer, and truly connected to the land. The homestay itself is surrounded by majestic views, lush forests, and complete serenity. The food is delicious, healthy, and locally sourced. It’s a haven for anyone seeking a village retreat in the Himalayas, close to Kalpeshwar Temple and not far from Badrinath—ideal for pilgrims and peace-seekers alike. This place is a gift for those looking to unwind, heal, and reconnect with themselves. Thank you, Sach Bhai, Manav, and the entire YogMatra team, for creating such a sacred space in the mountains. I’ll cherish this experience forever. Aakash Manik
