Norbu Thungkar Homestay

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this homestay, and I can't recommend it enough! The location is absolutely stunning, with an amazing view from the room. It’s nestled in a beautiful area that truly feels like a retreat. The owner, Sangay, is incredibly friendly and helpful. He went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed, making us feel right at home. His warmth and hospitality really made our stay special. The food was delicious and the place was very hygienic, which we greatly appreciated. Each meal felt like a taste of home, making our experience even more enjoyable. Overall, we had a fantastic time that we still talk about, especially my mother! If we plan to visit again, this Homestay will definitely be our choice. I've already recommended it to my cousin, sister, and friends. If you’re looking for a memorable stay, this is the place to be!

I would not recommend to my friends or family, just because of owners behaviour, even if you still wants to go then never order breakfast. Not recommended at all. Staff also just barge in into the room multiple times without knocking, it's around 100m down from the road towards a slum area, we were 4 people with multiple luggages, they helped us to get down but at the time of leaving we asked them just to help us take our luggage up towards the road they refused. Also most important thing if you are planning for a movie night then don't take the mountain view room, we booked their most expensive mountain view room by directly contacting the owner, we checked on booking.com that they are providing TV in that room but when we reached, there's no TV in that room, when we asked the owner he simply refused to acknowledge that listing on booking.com & said "you booked directly and I gave you discount" That mountain view room is still listed with TV but even if you book it owner will refuse to acknowledge it.

The homestay and the owners are very nice people. The views of Darjeeling city from the balcony is amazing. It is a new and well furnished property and very family friendly. Fhe best part is, the owner and the staffs are extremely nice and knowledgeable people.

Staying at Norbu Thungkar Homestay felt like being welcomed into a home rather than just a place to stay. The views alone are breathtaking that made every morning and night feel magical. But what truly made the stay special was the family’s kindness, always attentive and eager to share stories about the area. And the food was unforgettable! Aunty’s Nepali dal bhat was so comforting, but her aloo ko tarkali was the real standout perfectly spiced and cooked with such love. We are incredibly grateful for Priyak Dai for taking us to some of the beautiful spots in Darjeeling giving us insights and memories we’ll cherish forever. For anyone looking to experience genuine hospitality, stunning views, and amazing food, I couldn’t recommend Norbu Thungkar Homestay enough.

If you want to stay in Darjeeling, look no further - food, hospitality, location, all great. Had the pleasure to catch a glimpse of Kanchenjunga from our room as well. Walking distance to Mall bazar.

This Puja (2024 October), I booked this property through booking.com sometime in August. Just about 5-6 days before the starting date, the property owner started some queer communication about the booking and started quarrelling over whatsapp. I understand that there may be lot of tourists to Darjeeling during Puja and this guy thought he could get a better deal for his room. Smart and arrogant guy. But that was unfair to me and my family who planned the trip a long back. So be careful.

Very bad service being provided by the owners. No amenities such as heaters or room clean up. Though it shows near to mall but actually its 2.3 km from mall also is located a narrow lane. Care takers are least bothered
