NillI stayed in this homestay for 2 nights and 3 days. Though I booked the homestay seeing pretty good reviews on Google, my experience was beyond my expectation. The location was away (not too much) from Kalimpong bazar, just below the Dr. Graham School. The place is well maintained. The view from the balcony and the room was beautiful, especially the night view of the Kalimpong city. The rooms were clean and spacious. The best part is the hospitality from the caretakers Mr. Ajay and Mr. Kundan. They are so humble and welcoming, always with a beautiful smile. We also met the owner. He is such a gentleman. I will definitely recommend this homestay to anyone who wants to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of cities.

NillThose who seek a quiet but beautiful place to reside during their tour in Kalimpong are recommended to stay here. We visited this place at a friend's recommendation and to be honest our stay there exceeded all expectations we had. The owner David was a prominent personality of the area and very welcoming person who personally oversees the well-being of his guests and asks for any inconveniences. The others in his team are also similarly very polite and helpful.

NillEdit: First review written on: 18/04/2017, 05:16 pm I was quite skeptical about the place as it had no review. But once we reached the place everything turned different. The hospitality of the owner Mr. Foning was overwhelming. It was as if we were in our own home. He arranged a car for us for sightseeing and also for a day-trip to Darjeeling (takes around 2 hr to reach from Kalimpong). He even took us for a ride in his car in the evening on day one and gave us thorough details about Dr. Graham's School. The food was excellent and cheap like the rooms. All were home-cooked and delicious. The homestay has 24x7 hot water also along with free WiFi. Cable TV is also present. There is a cute little canine friend there at their place named Thor who'll greet you. If anyone wants a sojourn in a tranquil place away from the noise and pollution of the city, this homestay is definitely worth it.

NillWe had an extremely pleasant experience staying at this property. It's very well maintained, with clean rooms and a picturesque view. The location within the woods at a close proximity to Dr. Graham's Homes is the best part about this place according to me. The hospitality offered by Mr. Gurung has made me consider this place on the occasion of our future visits to Kalimpong. All in all, I had a memorable stay.

NillI stayed at Grey Dove .its really a good home stay,in a lash green surrounding. Peaceful stay away from city life. Stay is comfortable. I have to mention 2 things : Mr.David Fonning and very cute Pet Thor. Mr. David is knowledgeable, kind hearted , A man of Word. Every point of Kalimpong is at his fingertips. As i like nature very much Mr . Fonning took all trouble to accompany me to show me sunset at Reli river . The experience was beyond words. I will never forget our daily adda session from 6 - 9 p.m every day during our stay at Kalimgpong with Mr. Fonning. Still i cherish those days ;when i am at kolkata far away from Kalimgpong. My experience at Grey Dove was really awesome. My daughter still remembers cute pet Thor. Thor behaves like a small kid . He is very funny cute pet .every morning we played with him. Mr. Bishal who drove us to different destinations as per guidance of Mr. Fonning was very effective and efficient. Mr.Fonning takes great care of the boarders and tries to satisfy their needs. I loved Grey Dove very much. Again i am planning to visit Grey Dove. Basically i am executive and associated with different Management Institutes as faculty Member. I was Dy. Registrar of NIPER ( Institute created by act of Parliament )

NillI was searching for a quite place to stay during our visit in Kalimpong. After spend some times I found this palce. Very few reviews about this palce, but all are 5 stars!! When you will place from that moment you can feel the difference. This palce is just before the Graham's School. The hospitality of the owner Davis uncle is overwhelming. Neat and Cleam rooms & bathroom with 24 hours hot water. Wifi and Cable TV also available. He will make you feel at home. He has a very nice garden of various flowers and fruits. Some of them are quite interesting. Foods are simple but very tasty. Try their chicken momo once during stay. All credit goes to Tek Bahadur. You can spend your evening by chatting with David Uncle. He is very energetic and knowledgable person. There is little Shih Tzu friend named Thor who will greet you. If you want to stay in complete peace away from city's hustle and bustle, you have to stay at this homestay.

★★★★★I chanced upon this home stay as I searching for a 2 night stay in Kalimpong, not in the city but in a peaceful surrounding.||||The Locale: This is located in Dr Graham's Homes, an almost 700 acre (now reduced to some 400 acres maybe) property which is a great attraction of Kalimpong. This is on the way to Delo, about 10 minutes drive from the Kalimpong Town Centre. The surroundings are all green and very very quiet. You can walk in the morning among the birds and the trees. The century old old school building is a stone's throw away. The property also houses an old beautiful church, boy's and girl's hostels, various school departments and acres of green all around.||The Home Stay: The home stay is run by Mr. David Fonning- an amazing gentleman. Mr. Fonning used to work in the school. Now he has retired but keeps himself busy by running the home stay and some day jobs, mostly charitable in nature. The house is a gated property. It has a double storied main building where the family stays in the 1st floor. The ground floor has two medium sized rooms, a dining room, 1 living room lined with comfortable sofas and books and a Hall. Each room has in suite toilets. I stayed in one of those rooms. Being off season, I got the entire ground floor all by myself. If two families are travelling, they can book the rooms side by side and enjoy the whole place. Apart from this building, Mr. Fonning has another building in the premise which is more expensive as it has a balcony in front overlooking the valley. There is another building that has dorms for budget travelers/back packers.||||Mr. Fonning is an amazing host. When we arrived, he was waiting for us on the road so that we do not miss the sharp bend on the main road that leads upto the homestay. After that, he took us to the room and left us on our own to rest. After resting a little, we wanted to go out for a bit of site seeing. Mr. Fonning arranged the car and got us a great bargain too. In the evening when we returned, we were standing in front of the school and wondering if we can enter and see the place around. Mr. Fonning was passing by in his car. When he saw us, he dropped his plan of wherever he was going to and took us for an amazing guided tour of the Homes in his car. He showed us the school, the hostels, the various departments and explained everything in great detail. He knows the place in nd out and we had a great conversation about the school and Kalimpong in general. Being an ex student of the school, he has a huge respect for the way the school works and its founder and we felt real passion working here. In the evening, he took us around his house and we met his lovely wife. Mrs. Fonning is a great horticulturist and the house is blooming with rare trees and flowers. The Fonnings are very knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna and if this is your area of interest, then Mr. Fonning would be more than happy to oblige you with his superb knowledge. ||||Overall: I would give this homestay a 5 out of 5 and would urge everyone to drop by Grey Dove if you are travelling to Kalimpong. The room is a modest Rs. 1000/- per day without food. The food is not pricey at all and is delicious. The location is quiet but not too far away from the town. Keep this as a base and take a tour of Kalimpong and surroundings for 2-3 days.

NillOne of the nicest homestays in Kalimpong, this family run unit is places well away from the hustle bustle of the tiny but very crowded town of Kalimpong close to the Dr Graham's Homes school premises. The rooms are well appointed and cosy, with nice bathrooms. Well worth a visit if you are in town for even a day...
