We had a wonderful stay at this homestay! The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The hospitality was truly exceptional — we felt welcomed and well taken care of throughout our stay. The food was delicious and tasted like home-cooked meals, made with love. The owners were incredibly kind, friendly, and always ready to help with anything we needed. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a warm and peaceful place to stay!

Great hospitality. They really deserve 5 stars. Each and every member of the stay is very humble, welcoming and attentive in behaviour. This is one of the very few homestays in lava that is maintained by local people. Very budget friendly (whether fooding+lodging/ only lodging) The view is good from the terrace adjacent to rooms. Delicious food, resolution to your every asks/claims and smiling faces during the stay make you comfortable.

Google's location is wrong here. The original location is in the heart of Lava bazar. When you walk downhill towards the Lava bazaar from the clock tower, there is a gully on the left side just 150m-200m away from the clock tower. The homestay is there in that gully in the left side ( 1st row). Nice basic rooms, geyser is present in the bathroom. All people are nice. Sandhya is a very good cook, she kept my wishes of having local foods. The location is OK 🙃, you have to climb 10-12 steps to reach the homestay's entrance and then if you take the top floor, you have to climb 20-22 steps more. There is no view as such in the front side ( surrounded by buildings). I guess, only if you take the Rooftop floor then you can see some parts of the mountain range & some parts of the Lava monastery from the roof. 1 last point, we encountered a peculiar situation for the 1st time in the hills ( In my experience of almost 10-12 trips of Darj & Kalimpong) , where the owner complained about our driver for some reasons, (it was about his stay & food in the homestay, some arguments between them & some threats were given between them on this topic) but we did know nothing & then the owner was insisting us to take a different car by leaving the already hired car of us.And suggested that we should take driver from Lava circle & not from Gorubathan / Dooars range. It was quite abnormal & strange for me. Anyways, good luck to all of them. Thank you!

Excellent Hospitality & Homely Comfort – A Perfect Stay! I had a wonderful 3-night stay at Winter Inn Homestay with four of my friends, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality of the hosts made us feel right at home. They went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of our stay was comfortable. The food was a highlight—delicious, home-cooked meals that reminded us of authentic, homely flavors. Every dish was prepared with care, using fresh ingredients, and served with warmth. The last night’s barbeque chicken was an absolute treat! Perfectly grilled, flavorful, and served in a cozy setting, it made for a memorable evening under the stars. A special mention to the fish curry we had for lunch on the third day—it was totally different from what we usually eat at home, and it was absolutely excellent! The unique local flavors and the way it was prepared made it a standout meal during our stay. We were fortunate to get rooftop rooms with a breathtaking view of Kanchenjunga on the last day. Waking up to the majestic sight of the snow-capped peaks in the morning was truly magical and made our stay even more special. The rooms were clean, cozy, and well-maintained, offering a perfect retreat after a day of exploring. The peaceful ambiance and scenic surroundings added to the charm. If you're looking for a place with great hospitality, comfort, and amazing food, Winter Inn Homestay is the perfect choice. Highly recommended ***Also, a big shoutout to Elias bhai, our driver for the trip. He’s not just a skilled driver with great knowledge of the hilly roads and local spots, but also an incredibly kind and reliable person. His calm and confident driving made us feel safe throughout the journey, and more than that, he felt like a brother to us—always cheerful, helpful, and full of stories. He truly added a personal touch to our trip.

We stayed here few days ago.We are overwhelmed by their hospitality.food was awesome in taste ☺️. spacious clean room .You will get a homely atmosphere there.sister (their daughter) is very sweet ☺️.we left with wonderful memories ❤️ surely we will stay here in future.

I stayed at winter inn honestly for two nights on 4th and 5th April,2025 with amazing experience.The hospitality of Sandy's and her parents is indescribable,they take care of us like their family members.The room is spacious and neat and clean,the food served to us is delicious.I booked on line and I got more than what I expected.I must recommend it for everyone.
