Utopia Hostels Dharamkot (Mcleodganj )

I had the pleasure of staying at this incredible hostel in Dharamkot towards the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024. Initially, I was just visiting Dharamkot for a few days, but on my on 4th day of the trip, I stumbled upon Utopia Hostel and it truly felt like home, and ended up staying here for months. Utopia Hostel is a perfect blend of comfort and charm. The dorms are immaculately clean, and the old-style wooden architecture gives it a cozy, rustic vibe. One of the most memorable moments was waking up to breathtaking sunrise views over the valley while sipping on some GLH tea from the balcony a memory I still miss! The hostel offers a range of amenities that made my stay even more enjoyable. There’s a fantastic table tennis setup, a cozy reading nook, and high-speed WiFi that allowed me to comfortably work from anywhere on the property. Whether you're looking to relax or stay productive, this hostel has it all. If you love nature and outdoor adventures, this place is perfect for you. There are amazing treks nearby, from the beautiful Gallu Waterfall to the serene Shiva Cafe, and the ever-popular Triund trek. Even an evening walk on any of the nearby trails or Naddi is mesmerising, with the stunning landscapes and peaceful surroundings. What truly made my stay unforgettable, however, was the amazing people I met there, Nitin Bhaiya, the owner, and the entire team made me feel like home. If you’re visiting Dharamkot, this is definitely the place to stay!

⭐☆☆☆☆ Very disappointing experience. We called ahead and were told that rooms were available, but when we reached, the receptionist claimed they were already booked. This was frustrating and felt like we were misled. On top of that, the staff was rude and arrogant — completely lacking in basic hospitality. The food was terrible, service was poor, and even the tea was badly prepared. Not worth the visit at all. Definitely not recommended.

I had the absolute pleasure of staying at this place for a few days, and I can genuinely say it felt like a second home. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms and warm smiles. The vibe here is so positive and comforting — it’s more than just a stay, it’s an experience. I ended up making some amazing friends, and every day felt like I was surrounded by people who truly cared. But what stood out the most were the owners. They are some of the kindest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. Their hospitality goes above and beyond — they made sure I was comfortable, well-fed, and happy at all times. Whether it was sharing a laugh, giving helpful local tips, or just checking in to see how I was doing, they truly made me feel like family. It’s rare to find that kind of connection while traveling. If you’re looking for a place that feels like home, where the people treat you like one of their own — this is it. I’m so grateful for my time here and will definitely be back. Highly, highly recommended!

Nice room, good aesthetics, and friendly people. But — menus are outdated. You might order something at one price, only to see a higher amount on the final bill. And if you question it, the room manager hits you with, “Bro, you’re arguing over ₹20?” Feels like a subtle billing scam — cheap business tactics topped with a rude attitude.

A home away from home! My stay at Utopia Hostel in Dharamkot was nothing short of amazing. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel like I belonged. They are incredibly warm and helpful, turning my stay into a truly special experience. The food here is exceptional—fresh, flavorful, and made with love. The vibes are perfect for both relaxation and meeting like-minded travelers. I really didn’t want to leave, but I’ll definitely be coming back soon for a much longer stay. If you’re in Dharamkot and looking for a place that feels like home, Utopia Hostel is the one!

The property has got some character because of the old world charm . My review is specifically for the property manager -Asad. He does his job exceptionally well, even goes an extra mile to make you feel comfortable. Thanks to him, witnessed one of the most beautiful nights of star gazing from the property’s terrace - with shooting stars that just didn’t stop shooting . It was magical to say the least . The private rooms are simple & cosy

It was my first experience in a hostel and it was great! From the rooms to the view to the service to the people. Everything was great. The staff is really cooperative and understanding, always wanting the best for their customers and their experience. The view was phenomenal. And the aesthetic of the place is so good. It just makes you want to stay even more. I highly recommend this place especially if you are travelling solo… you are not going to regret it.

Loved every bit of my experience here. For me, it became like a home away from home. The people and vibe here are so good, you won’t feel like going any where else. I came here for 2-3 days but loved it so much that I extended my stay for more than a week. Made so many golden memories here that I am gonna cherish. It’s a beautiful place to stay at. Will recommend 10/10.
