Johnny's Hotel

We stayed here at the end of our trip in India and found it to be a pretty good place to finish our time. Rooms are decent size, mostly clean-ish and for the price a good value place.||||To the point: Would we stay here again? Yeap.||||The hotel is near to the beach which is great and it is walking distance to the town centre. ||||The food at the hotel was fine although there wasn't much selection on offer. It is probable that this was because it was out of season.||||The staff were very helpful and accomodating to our requests.

A lovely hideout in the crazy hustle and bustle of Goa. Neat rooms, good staff and service. Beautiful dining area. More suited for families. The beach is a stones throw away, taxis available just outside and a few good eating joints around the corner. A great experience. I'd recommend you to try it.

First of all ,I thank Mr.Johny who is an wonderful host and helped me with a big lit room and with a view to the sea. I wished I could meet him but he did everything through mobile and I faced not a single problem.|I came from Paris and have some writing assignment to do and no place is ideal than this hotel. No one will disturb you and always you can listen to the roar of the sea. It is beautiful to listen to it when you write in night and hear the waves! |Beach is just 2 mins away, Calangute with all it's buzz and shores but this hotel is amazingly silent.|The 2nd Floor corner room is great.|Only thing I wished that the restaurant should be working, now closed for the monsoon.|Met Maria too and she is also very helpful.|I look forward to come back there and stay for a long time!|

This place is near to Calangute Beach. You can directly walk to beach from back side of hotel. It's located in main area. So you will get all the supplies like liquor foods meals etc. The rooms are ok if wants cheap hotel to stay in Calangute it's place for you. The owner is great personality very humble the rooms are AC and non AC. Per day rent from 1200,2000 to 4000 according to facilities and area. The menu also are affordable rate for foods and drinks

visited in early october...its verry close to calangute beach..the rooms are simple without any luxury,well ventilated with large windows. AC rooms are also there..the bathrooms are clean,with geyser..in the ground floor there is a small garden and place to hang your wet clothes in one corner..there is also a sitting area where you can eat breakfast or brunch and have a few beers and watch tv(no tv in room)..you can find Mr johnny and his wife around the sitting area socialising with the guests..he can also help you with hiring self-drive car or with bike rentals etc..car parking is there..paid wi-fi is available..laundry service is there as well if you need..there is a separate entry leading to the stairs if you return late at night,so no issues there..all in all a verry good place where you will feel happy and this will ultimately contribute to the overall satisfaction of your tour.

I loved staying in Johnny's Hotel. It's a budget place to spend a few nights when you are in Calangute. The location is perfect, about 3 minutes walk to the beach and yet it's rather quiet inside, so you don't hear the night parties at the shore. It is run by a lovely family: Maria, John and their son Ryan. I loved every minute I stayed there and will perhaps come back. The hotel has a cozy little restaurant with great food. The town is just nearby. It would be even greater if there was wi-fi in every room. Right now it's only downstairs. Johnny's Hotel is my fondest Goa memory.

I have stayed in Johnny's Hotel (JH) a few times trough the years latest in Jan. 2011 for a couple of weeks.||||JH is a small budget hotel with 12 rooms and apartments on short and long terms conveniently located just a few min. walk from the beach and the many shops around the market. The apartments are situated in and around the the Calangute-Baga-Candolim coastal belt.||JH is one of the oldest hotels in this locality situated at the end of a small side road to the Calangute-Baga Road between M.R. Hotel and Chalston Beach Resort and through the years many foreigners as well as locals have stayed here with satisfaction. The color of the hotel building surrounded by a wall with an entrance was yellow and the area was in relative quiet like a semi-village without any disturbing traffic, busy town life or high buildings.||||From my balcony on the first floor at the back of the hotel, I enjoyed the view of the ocean through the palm leaves, the playing squirrels and the daily life of the neighbours.||||Rooms were small and basic at reasonable rates with a ceiling fan and an attached shower without any curtain which unfortunately always resulted in too much water on the floor. After a few days, the room was dusty, but no room service.||||Most of the time, it was a quiet place. However drunken and noisy guests returning back to sleep in the middle of the night as well as too many barking dogs, woke me up several times.||||All the staff were friendly in particular the owner Johnny and his wife Maria who always offered their help if needed. Many guests have received useful advices and support from Johnny in his small and dusty reception room where he also used to take a nap if necessary.||||JH offered a wide range of services which included a multi-cuisine restaurant below an open canopy with a bar, foreign exchange, laundry, air and bus tickets, taxi, bike/car hire, boat river cruises, local sightseeing tours and contact to Yoga classes, Reiki courses, Reflexology treatment and much more.||||The restaurant offered a good choice of local Goan and international food including four different kind of breakfast (Local, Executive, Continental and English), sandwiches/toasts, juices, shakes and lassi, hot and cold drinks, salads, soups, different varieties of noodles, rice, parathas, naans, spaghettis and several Goan specialities as well as deserts, beers, wine, alcohol and cocktails.||The food preparation was fresh cooking and it took time, but nothing special.||My favourite dish was grilled, fried or boiled Pomfret or Kingfish. Two of the many tasty Goan specialities.||||Apart from the mosquitoes, it was nice to relax in the restaurant and get into contact with some of the other guests or Johnny's dog.||||As already mentioned by somebody else, the beach was hopelessly crowded and very noisy due to the jetskiing and parasailing. Furthermore it was too dirty due to things left behind like plenty of plastic bags and bottles. Unfortunately nobody cared.||||After my last visit to Calangute, I feel it is over and a closed chapter. Once Calangute, Baga and Candolim were three different separated and attractive fishing villages. But today it is like one town. Through the years the increasing charter tourism with tourists on a package tour for a week or two has spoiled Calangute. The place has been too commercialized and it is a sad fact that one of the consequences is a remarkable higher price level generally compared to most other places in Goa.||||I will avoid and not recommend anyone to stay in Calangute. However if it is necessary, JH is OK.

I very nice place to stay - Johnnys Hotel is a smalle place with simple rooms. Cheap and no luxury, but close to the beach and worth the money. The beds are a bit hard, but I travelled alone and put one matress on top of the other :)||Very nice staff and Johnny and Maria are fantastic.
