KharPalace Group of Houseboats

We had made reservation for one night. But we end up staying there for 4 night. The service and the location was superb The owner of the house boat was very nice. Mr Shakeel. He helped us for arranging car arround srinagar and pahalgam. He is very helpful person. The food was very delicious. Like home away home. I highly recommend this house boat to everyone

Part of our Amarnadh Yatra, we stayed in Khar Palace house boat for two nights. This is our first visit to Srinagar. The owner of the house boat ( before we were leaving the house boat, he informed us that he is the owner of house boat) Mr.Shakeel is taking care of all guests personally, while providing timely breakfast, and dinner. He got prepared breakfast and dinner asking us to choose the way we would like. We informed him that we need pure vegitarian dishes and accordingly he provided delicious dishes. I recommend this khar palace house boat for pleasant stay and good food.

To staying in Khar palace group of house boat was staying awesome.my friend has recommended me this hotel.it was home away Home.The food was delicious and the staff is very nice. Kharpalace group of house boat was very nice to stay.we was to suppose to stay there for one night. But we stay there for 3 nights. The food was very good.The staff. Rashid and Bilal. Was very nice to us. The owner of the house boat was very caring.

After my experience in Kumarkom, kerala i was under the impression that stay in a house boat is expensive. But to my great surprise and delight I found that the Houseboats at Dal lake, which are lined up at the banks of the lake,are less expensive for a night's stay and also far more beautiful, very spacious,with excellent amenities that includes bath tub, shower, beautiful and intricate wooden carvings on the entire boat and the ceiling too, which i have shown in the photographs I have attached. These photos were of the Khar palace house boat where I had stayed for a night with three other families who were with us. Cox and Kings had booked this house boat for us.||||The stay was so very comfortable and the food was supplied by the owner of the boat, which was very great and delicious. We really enjoyed our stay here.

Forget all the warnings you might read regarding houseboats! The 15 minunes complimentary shikara ride from gate 15 is beautiful in itself. Whenever we wanted to go out, the manager, John arranged the same guy, we paid extra only the sightseeing shikara tour he took us. Khar Palace is as you can see on the pictures, 2 rooms with private bathrooms, hall and dining room. The floor is cracking as the whole structure is wooden, some parts would need some extra paint and the bathrooms are not like on the mainland, but comfortable enough. The location is peaceful and beautiful and the overall experience is extremely positive. No extra charges or hidden cost just pure kashmiri hospitability. Best home cooked food we had in Kashmir. Our children didnt want to leave and played charambol and went fishing with Rahul, the younger brother of the manager. We could borrow the small boat that the family living behind the tourist houseboat was using and paddle our way around the peaceful area among waterlilies. One or two salesmen visited us but it was not really annoying, they rather join your shikara with their own when you come or go and might put some pressure on you to buy their stuff but leave you quickly if you are not interested. Do not even consider the lousy and expensive hotels in town but head to a houseboat, you can even book by just calling John!

The stay and food was good. The owner of the houseboat Shakeel uncle was really nice and welcoming. He also lend us his boat to take a ride around the lake which was indeed a fun experience.

I was staying in kharpalace houseboat.i have booked for one night.i extended two more nights over there. The rooms were neat and clean. The bathroom is having bath tub as well. They provide home made food. I was feeling that I am in my own home. Very nice location and staff where very helpful. I personally highly recommend this house boat
